WeightWise Bariatric Program Bariatric Center
Dr. Broussard and his team are great! I live in Kansas and travel to Oklahoma to be a patient to him and his team. I feel his program including the wonderful aftercare program is exactly what I need to be successful. I am also a cash patient and he has great rates. Overall I give him and his team an A+!!!
My surgeon was amazing. He gives you all of the attention and time you could ever need for questions and concerns. I never felt rushed or that any of my questions were silly. The entire staff of his hospital was spectacular. They made me and my family feel welcome and special before and after surgery.
I am pleased with the staff and the facilties at Weight Wise. They are very helpful and proactive. They kept on my about coming to the seminar all while processing paperwork and informing me of costs. I have had a one on one with Dr. Broussard and some prelim tests. I hope to meet Dr. Walton soon as well. The nurses and staff are all great to work with so far. Aftercare and emotional needs were addressed and that was a nice thing to know. RISKS were addressed in an honest way. I feel really good about this place. I will keep my blog updated if you want to read more.

My husband and I had a LOT of questions and he answered every one! He does his surgery's at the Foundation of Bariatric Hospial of Oklahoma in Edmond, and his staff is Outstanding! One of the things I especially liked about this program, was the aftercare. He expects to be in contact with you for at least 2 years to give you the support you will need to be successful. I see the Dr. Walton EVERYTIME I have a follow-up appointment, not an assistant as I have seen other people complain about with their own surgeons. From what I have seen on this website, Weightwise may charge more than some of the others, but their fees include most everything for a full year, including Dr. visits, hospital (just finished building a new one in March 2006), psy, nut, excercise therapy, 1 year gym membership with them, and more. He also offers discounts if you later need some plastic surgery and go through his facility. This is worth the extra money to me, as I have seen too many other people not able to see their Dr.s after surgery very easily! rnPlease visit WeightWise @ rnwww.weightwise.org for more information!rnrnrn
I had my surgery consult on 10/31/06. I loved, loved, LOVED Dr. Broussard and the team at Foundation Bariatrics. Team oriented, acted like they had all the time in the world for me, made me feel completely at ease. Wonderful! Dr. Broussard didn't act like he had anywhere else to be. He answered my questions completely, made sure I knew what I was getting into, and made himself completely available. It was evident that he loves what he does. I got a kick out of listening to his Louisiana accent, too! His organization is strict about pre- and post-op care. You also have a patient advocate assigned to you to help you navigate the process. I feel like I made the right choice with Foundation Bariatrics and so far rate them very highly! The downside is that while Dr. Broussard is in my network, the hospital and healthplex are not.
I met Dr. Broussard at a seminar, I was going to have Dr. Walton who is at the same hospital (because my Angel Jane had him) but he was out of town for the seminar. So I really liked Dr. Broussard at the seminar so I decided to make an appointment with him. I got an appointment 3 days after the seminar. Now thats fast!! He is really so sweet, I knew that this was a special Bariatrics Hospital so this was his specialty. I believe that Dr. Broussard really cares about his patients and loves what he does. He was very informative and asked if I had any questions. He wanted me to have a safe surgery so I do need to lose 20 pounds to shrink my liver. I was very inpressed with that. I am self-pay and he could just do it fast and over with. The Hospital is wonderful, the staff is great..It is the only Bariatrics Hospital in the USA... Only Bariatrics Patient, everything at this Hospital is equipped for Overweight Patients...Very Very Impressive...
Note: I have waited until I am one year post surgery. I wanted to get along farther in my experience before I made any kind of evaluation. rnrnDr. Walton is the best! He is caring, open and honest during discussions prior to surgery. While he is quick to let you know some of his patients have problems, my perception is that his patients suffer fewer adverse side-effects than contemporaries in this area. He performed RNY and gall bladder removal laproscopically. My recovery time before going back to practicly a \"full\" workload (driving construction equipment) was FOUR days. rnrnMy only concern is in his support staff. While they did an adequate job, I felt like some of my \"follow-up\" details fell through the cracks. I recently had my one year follow up, but have not had my blood work scheduled yet. I felt like that should have been done before my consult. rnrnOverall, I would highly recommend Dr. Walton to anyone considering WLS. He is continually striving to improve techniques and procedures. At this time, he is working with the hospital to make his practice in Enid to have a \"Center of Excellence\" distinction.rnrnNote: In the spring of 2006, Dr. Walton moved his practice to Edmond, OK. He is doing bariatric surgeries (RNY & Lap Band) exclusively now. The facility is designed to assist any aspect of weight loss people are dealing with. This includes non surgical alternatives, food/diet supplements, exercise physiologists and on site dieticians.
Very easy to work with. Explains things well and has a good natue about him.rnrnHis bedside manner is good and he worked quickly on me, my WLS took less than 2 hours!rnrnDr. Floyd took my insurance and worked with them to get me approved.rnrnThis is an update on my relationship with Dr. Philip Floyd. 9-18-06rnrnHe is a skilled surgeon, however, his follow up is TERRIBLE. I have had ONE set of lab work done since my surgery, only because I insisted. Also, he took 6 weeks to return a phone call after my sugery-he took a biospy of my liver and I was trying to get the results.rnrnHe recently did an endoscope of my pouch due to pain in my left side, and STILL has not contacted me with results. He put me on Protonix the day before the scope and I guess he feels that was all he needed to do. I would not have known about the ULCER I have in my new stomach had a nurse not been kind enough to give me a picture of if after I woke up.rnrnIt is my opinion that simply being good at cutting someone is not enough, especially with WLS. There is A LOT of follow up that needs to be done (as is evidence by the amount of times it is mentioned on this web site) It would be my suggestion that if you choose Dr. Floyd for you surgery that you have a good general physician to take care of that follow up- it seems that Dr. Floyd isn't interested. rnrnJust my opinion.rnrn10-3-06rnrnWell I met with Dr. Broussard et al for the first time today, and I must say that it was a WONDERFUL visit!!rnrnDr. Broussard spent at least 30 minutes with me and was extremely thorough and professional-as well as being very personable and caring.rnrnThe nurses and other staff were great- very helpful and caring. The facility itself is fabulous! I think I made the right move!
