Very Caring surgeon. Her office staff is very accomodating, especially her Nurse Marta. Be wary of scheduling you dietician appointment to close to your office appointment because I have been late due to scheduling issues

When I met for the Group consult she was very personable and got right to the point.
I just thought the group meeting was a little too short.
Then I had my one on one with her and she listened to my concerns and explained everything to me.

She came and met me before the surgery and had her picture taken by the Terre Haute Tribune Star. She answered all the questions and showed concern for me. I felt very comfortable.
Then after the surgery she came in the next day and told me I could go home and made sure that I knew what to do. She was great.

So far, I have only spoke with Dr. Jones breifly, but others have raved about her and I have three friends who have used her with amazing results. She has my full confidence. Her office staff, especially Heather, have been amazing. Do not catch Kim on a bad day, though....

Dr. Jones was my guardian angel. I cannot stress enough how much her bedside manner and her professionalism meant to me when I was in the hospital with my gastric bypass. My five day stay turned into 5 weeks! She never once made me feel any of the complications were my fault. She would sit on the side of my bed, hold my hand and answer any questions I had. She also took the time to call my children to keep them informed on what was happening.

I have recommended several people to her from the Bloomington area. Not one of them has had a bad experience and they all have loved her like I do. They in turn have referred their family and friends to her also.

Her post op care is great.

The only thing I feel that is needing some improvement is the long term after care. We still have some questions and it's sometimes hard to get answers from her staff or directions on who may help with issues.

She has great surgical competence along with a terrific bedside manner, which equals a great win-win situation.

dr jones was polite and straight to the point she was concerned and a contientious
dr. very proffesional and genuinely concerned about my wieght. my impression of her has not changed. her staff was helpful and answered all my questions no matter how many times i am sure they have heard the same ones over and over agin they were wonderful. the oversized chairs in the waiting room added a calmness to my frayed nerves because i knew i could sit in comfort without being wedged into a chair made for a smaller person. there was never any whispering with the staff amoungst themselves like you thought they might be talking about the larger patients. i was at ease the minute i stepped through their office door. dr jones has a program and after care available if you live in the area. there is a support group available and
if you have any questions they will try to get bk to you within the day if leaving a mesage for the office on voice mail.
dr jones has been performing these surgeries for over 15yrs and in that time to her credit she has had no pt deaths, either prior to surgery or after. if i had found out about this dr before all the others i went to i wouldnt of waited so long
for this surgery. when i asked if she could do my surgery laproscopically she never even blinked or hesitated. it was a yes, and i was shocked. all the others i went to stressed to me weight loss before surgery. she never said i had to loose any weight just that it would be helpful if i did.
i would rate dr jones as one of the top surgeons in her field. i dont know how her bedside manner is yet but i will rate that at a later time. after my surgery.

My first impression of Dr Jones was all good. I was very impressed on her presentation and professionalism. She listened and was very attentive. Her office staff was very helpful. It is a very busy office, so I realize that when someone is so busy that can only mean one thing....... They are the Best!!! In great demand. Just be paient, it is true the best is worth waiting for. I have not had my surgery, so I can not comment on that, but it is my intenion to make this work by following up with the aftercare. Risks of the surgery was explained and like any surgery there are always risks, but with the consultation with the Dr, I feel I am in good hands. That is hers and the Lords!!! Going in with a good attitude will only heighten the experiance with the physican, hospital, nursing staff and everyone involved. Actually... it all comes down to... it is what you make it!

This is the second time that I have had to consult with Dr. Ditslear. I changed insurance carriers and had to wait until my new insurance kicked in.

Then my team of surgeons left their hospital [Winona] and went to Community North. They have established their own Bariatric clinic.

They are just starting, so they are not fully organized yet. They took a few old staffers with them.

Dr. Ditslear seems like a nice man that is knowledgable about the surgery. I also like the fact that thereoyhrt surgeons at his disposal - if needed.

I look forward in letting him handle my surgery and my post-op care.

Have had conuslt and have clearance for pysc eval. Dr. Ditslear and staff were friendly and informative. I plan to have Dr. Ditslear do my surgery when I can get approval. I have currently been denied due to physician supervised weight loss. My PCP, Dr Mark Lavallee from South Bend,IN is trying to help with appeal.

The only thing that I was a little disappointed with is that I was led to believe that Winlife doctors where doing both lap and open ryn surgeries. They were not yet set up for lap bypass. Dr. Ditslear has extensive experience with other lap procedures but not ryn bypass.

UPADATE:
Had open RNY on May 13,2003. Ended up in ICU for 38 days due to peritonitis. Have had to have 3 surgeries since due to complications. Have lost 102 pounds which I am pleased with. Was stuck for the last three months but am finally starting to lose again! If I had it to do over, I would definately choose a surgeon that DOES A LEAK TEST BEFORE allowing anything by mouth! This simple test could have saved me a lot of misery! ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS OF YOUR SURGEON AND PICK ON WHO HAS EXPERIENCE.

My first impression of Dr. Jones was that she was very knowledgable and good at what she does. She exuded confidence but didn't proclaim to know everything. My impression did not change through the course of my surgery and after care. She appears very busy and was called to emergency surgery on my 1 week follow up appt. but her nurse took very good care of me and answered my questions. Dr. Jones is very sweet and personable. The only thing that was kind of odd was that I met her at the initial consultation and right before surgery and then one visit in the hospital...so not a long dr/patient relationship! However, I had no complications and was released 32 hours after my surgery! So I am not complaining!
