Cleveland Clinic Florida Weston Bariatric Center
First impression was very busy but also very interested in patients well being and concearns. Office staff has been greeat love Anita.Very strict about afetercare and follow ups wants you to have every oopportunity to make the most of surgery. Has structured aftercare. Talked about the risks and gave examples of problems he has had with his own patients was very straight forward. I would give him a 10-10 because I honestly am not even worried about the care I am going to receive as I feel 100% that I am in the best hands possible. Some of the questions were difficult to explain to some of the staff at times but overall awesome staff.

My sweet friend sent me to Dr. Rosenthal because of his compentence and know-how. Also, Cleveland Clinic of Florida. His staff was an extension of ALL that. My personal opinion is that he is the best in the country. If you live ANYWHERE, coming to Cleveland Clinic in Weston, FL, is the place to have Gastric Surgery. For one year they make sure you are well-taken care of. From the mental aspect to what you are putting in your body in the form of food and vitamins, they are there 24/7. No question is taken lightly. They have MONTHLY seminars and workshops. Of course, they are still there for you for life. They are the first ones to tell you this. Dr. Rosenthal's bedside manner is wonderful. He smiles and congratulates you all the time. He is my hero!!
Update 5/1/10-- Dr. Szomstein performed my lap rny on 4/27. He was kind and made me feel so comfortable. The Fellowes were there as well and Dr. Rozenthal even checked on me a few times post-op. The nursing staff at the Cleveland Clinic were caring and assisted me promptly.
Update 6/4/09-- I met Dr. Szmostein today at the Cleveland Clinic. He was wonderful. Very caring and knows his stuff. He reassured me and answered all my questions. The facility is beautiful and everyone I interacted with was kind and provided the utmost service.
I meet Dr LoMenzo in Jan. at a seminar he did in the UMMS. He was very upfront and answered all our questions. I was nerves about the whole surgery and what I was going to get done at the time, but after the seminar I had a more under standing of each surgery and what was right for me he explained each one in a whole to give you the ins and outs of them and what will work better for the few of us concufused about what we wanted. He stesses after care to help keep you on the right track and focused on your goals. He gave us all the risks on every surgery and the one he thinks are the the most successful. I thought he was very involved and concerned for all his patients before and after.I had my first one on one with him the next month after a talk with my family to let them know what I was going to do. I have got the go ahead from my primary Dr. also which told me that I should have done this a long time ago and she was glad i made my mind up after fighting for so many years with this. I have all my test done and I am on my way to my 5th nutrition visit with one more after that then I will see what is next hopefully my date.
Dr. Lo Menzo was fantastic right off the bat! He spoke to my husband and I at length about the surgery and answered any questions we had. His bedside manner was geniune and comforting, I knew right away he would be the one! My impression did not change over time except that I didn't expect he would still be as concerned and have as much care when everything was said and done, but he does! He always wants to know how I am, how things are going and if I have any questions or problems. The office staff is also a vital tool in this surgery. They were very helpful in answering my questions, taking my million calls and providing me with the knowledge I requested and also, the comfort I needed during the waiting period for insurance, etc. He has a stellar team working with him! Aftercare is extremely important to Dr. Lo Menzo. And I believe it is very important to see the surgeon on a regular basis, check in, see how you're doing, check your bloodwork, make sure everything is still working for you. The aftercare program is follow-up visits every 3 months until 18 months post-op, and then every year thereafter. However, if there ever is an issue you can always make an appointment to see him. I would rate Dr. Lo Menzo an A+! He is not only a highly skilled surgeon, he is also a down to earth, funny, decent human being who truly enjoys what he does and I feel very lucky to have found him.
P.S. Although there is a paragraph warning that 100% positive reviews are suspect and less informative, I truly have NOTHING negative to say about my surgeon or his staff. I would choose him again and again, and also recommend him to anyone.
I loved Dr. Rosenthal, he was very down to earth. I immediately felt relaxed around him and believe me that's saying a lot because I have a serious fear of doctors. I'm always expecting the worst. His staff were very friendly and professional. Future patients should know he is very fast-moving. Which I loved because I hate the thought of sitting with a Dr. for 2 or 3 hours because I'll only become more stressed out. However, to some people they may find they don't like that. His entire staff really emphasized walking during aftercare. I would totally recommend Dr. Rosenthal to everyone.
My first meeting with my surgeon left me feeling sort of cold. But after wards, I warmed up to him as he is a big comic. The office staff is highly efficient and goes above and beyond without ever acting bothered. They impress upon the patient how important it is to follow up after the surgery. They have great support group meetings for nutrition and mental health, they also make it clear that the office staff is available for assistance. The doctor went over what I consider to be the normal blurb about the risk involved with any surgery. I would give this doctor and his staff the highest rating there is. They are professional, organized as well as knowledgeable. Both this doctor's surgical competence and bedside manners are impeccable.
