Center for Weight Loss Success, PC Bariatric Center
I went to my first consultation on May 20,2003 and met Dr Clark fot the first time and my first impression of him was a wonderful one. He was very sincere and passionate about the work he does and it seems to give him great joy to help people who are overweight live longer, healthier and happier lives. His office staff was wonderful. They were nice, very helpful and I did not feel looked down upon due to my weight. Right now I am going thru the process to obtain clearance for my sugery. But overall my first experience with Dr Clark and his staff was a rewarding one.
I had my first group bisit with Dr Clark on April 8, 2003 and I was very impressed. He explained everything and spent time answering puestions. Hi staff was very friendly and helpful.
Dr. Reese was an engaging, wonderfully nice woman who made me feel completely at ease. I highly recommend her. She is very compassionate and supportive of people seeking to have weight loss surgery. Her office was comfortable and Mary, her receptionist/right hand was a joy to work with as well. I couldn't be more pleased. Thank you so much, Mary & Dr. Reese!
As a navy dependent I was initially a patient of Doctors Moore and Spencer at Portsmouth Naval. I was surprisingly very comfortable and happy with the whole clinic/staff/program at Portsmouth naval and would recommend them to anyone. However, after an extensive wait, it was finally decided to allow many patients to go to outside civilians, and I took the opportunity to help speed the process.
The Tricare system offered me a choice from over twenty local surgeons in their network of civilian doctors. I've chosen Dr. Thomas Clark in NN for various reasons. Primarily due to the great recommendations I got for him from former patients and other people in the medical circle, including OTHER SURGEONS' OFFICE MANAGERS, and nursing staff I know who have worked with his patients at Riverside Hospital.
I had the opportunity to get in with a few other surgeons who could have gotten me in for surgery much sooner, but I didn't find Dr. Clark's anticipated waiting period terribly unreasonable (about 3 months.)Given that I've waited this long already, an extra 4-8 weeks is nothing compared to my increased comfort with his reviews.I could have gotten in much sooner, but with a great deal more anxiety.
I attended an orientation session with Dr. Clark this week and am looking forward to working with him, he and his staff were friendly and willing to answer questions. They were very helpful in dealing with insurance matters. I was comfortable with the whole affair. The only warning I might give future patients is to be prepared to be weighed and photographed at this visit! I might have liked to look somewhat better for my "before" mugshot! Dr. Clark seemed to require far less restrictive pre-operative screening than Portsmouth had. (however some insurance companies might require it for approval.) It is a little more difficult to offer my opinion about the aftercare there, as I have yet to attend their pre-op nutrition class. As far as the orientation session went, Dr. Clark seemed to have a somewhat less restrictive or structured aftercare program than I had been prepared for at Portsmouth. That is not to say that he recommmends you do whatever you want post-op., but more that he emphasizes that your progress post-op is in your OWN hands. Dietary guidelines and exercise continue to be stressed. I suppose it is more of an approach to patient care that differentiates the two. Portsmouth lectured and forced us through redundant, required lectures, whereas Clark will give information and guidelines. Dr. Clark when over the risks quite thoroughly, and had more than ample reading material to back it up. I did not get the feeling at all that he was trying to "sell" me on the surgery. Rather, he emphasized that anyone with lingering doubts would do best to wait.
Dr Clark was excellent! He made the patient aware of the pros and cons of surgery.
Dr. Clark was kind and very straight forward. He was the first person who looked at me like I was a person. He eased a lot of my fears during the seminar and it helped me to see that there is help. His staff was just as wonderfull...especially Shawn, the office managager, and Tracy the medical recep. Thanks for all the hard work you have done for me. You are all GREAT!!!!!
I havent had the chance yet to meet him one on one but I have my 3hour class tomorrow and will gwt to actually talk to him then. But I did attend the support group meetimg last month and was very impressed to see him there! It was very comforting to have him there and I look forward to seeing him tomorrow! The office staff has been the greatest, they have always called me to notify of any changes, and has made this very smooth as this is very scary for me . I have never had surgery of any kind, and they have made me feel more at ease with it.I am getting so excited about the surgery!
