Attended a seminar with Thomas Clark in his office and felt he was very informative, easy to understand, and that he was sincere. He seemed to have a sence of humor, seemed professional, but not stuffy, and very easy to talk too. I look forward to getting to know him better through this journey, and he came with excellent recommendations not only from my regular doctor I have known for 20 years, but also a former patient of his. I feel very confident with him as my surgeon.

My first impression of Dr. Clark was very nice he was very helpful to me.The office staff is wonderful they are on the ball in getting everything done in a timely manner.I haven't had the surgrey yet but all I hear is good things about them they care and that does matter to me

I heard about Dr.Clark from a friend. He was very upfront about the risks of the surgery and that it wasn't a 'quick fix'.He is friendly, answers all questions in full.He does the teaching(his staff also does a great deal of teaching).I'm a nurse and I see most MDs turn the teaching over to staff. His office staff are wonderful. They are very friendly, polite, and helpful. No phone call ever was placed on hold.My follow up visits are at two week intervals where once again my husband and I are taught about diet et al.The aftercare program is structured to include the dietian and psycologist as needed.I would rate him as the only one to consider for this surgery. When I choose a doctor,I am more concerned with his/her surgical competence than bedside manner. After all this is what we hire them for. In the case of Dr.Clark,he excells in both.I have no complaints.

My first impression of Dr Clark was that he is very informant but he looks young. After sitting through the seminar and talking to him one on one I realized he knows his stuff. He looks young but when he opens his mouth you no longer think of how young he looks.
The staff seemed to be friendly. They were very fast in getting my disability papers filled out and sent back in. I'm really not much of a socializer.
There isn't anything I disliked about Dr. Clark. Dr Clark is always eager to answer any questions you have. He seemed to be the first doctor in for surgery every morning. The nurses on the floor always expect him earlier than he says. He is always so positive and has great bedside manners. Dr clark emphasize aftercare from day one throughout. He has a very good class that tells you what to expect how to deal with them. the book he gives us is a tool that we will use throughout life. The risks of surgery were emphasized constantly. So as not to forget how serious this surgery is. Dr Clark is awesome:He is so laid back and relaxed. He has a great reputation with the nurses at hampton general in such a short time.He is the best.(this is my opinion)
Surgical competence and bedside manner go hand in hand. You have to know what you're doing but, after its done your careing attitude or lack of will determine how well the patient recovers.

I had hoped to have my surgery at Portsmouth Naval and then they decided to outsource some of us. I called various surgeons and started researching their info on the computer. I was looking for someone who had a great success rate with little deaths and with Dr. Clark I found that. My first impression: He seemed to have money and came from money. I thought he seemed distant. Overtime, I came to see him as a wonderful man and I liked his quiet, reserved ways. The office staff was very helpful. What to know about Dr. Clark: He answers your questions with honesty. My first question to him was how many patients had he lost during and after the operation and he answered me truthfully. The answer was two. I could tell that he didn't want to answer the question but he did and he did explain the risks of the surgery to me. How would I rate him: Off the charts. I was so afraid of the surgery. In fact, I had never had surgery before, and while I was waiting to go into the operating room, I tore-off all my fake fingernails and handed them to him. He looked taken back and wasn't sure what was in his hand. So in my book, you couldn't ask for a better surgeon.

Dr. Reese is a very nice, intelligent, warm, caring therapist. I am enjoying our sessions and think I am learning a lot about myself.

My frist impression of Dr Clark was that he had a warm personallity, not cocky, but you could tell he knowns his job. I felt this with each time I met with him.

He has a wonderful office staff, very helpful and they work with you in setting appt. around your life style, ie school,or work. And they are very very friendly.

There was nothing that I found out of place with Dr Clark or his staff. All very knowledgeable and helpful in what they do.

Dr. Clark does put emphasize on you knowing as much about the procedure as you can there are monthly seminars, you are expected to attend a one or two, here you meet people that are per-op and post-op. And yes you must commit to a life-long aftercare program with him.

The risks of surgery were address in a straight foward no nonsence manner.

I rate Dr.Clark in the highest regard, he's the greatest.

Surgical competence is the most important to me, and bedside manner is second.

Doctor Clark and his staff have been great in helping me to get approval thru my insurance for the surgery and preparing me for what to expect. The seminars that he has and the classes that he holds before the surgery answered any questioned that I had and my visit with him was very comfortable and helped me overcome concerns that I had with the surgery. His clinic offers alot of support before and after surgery.

Dr. Clark and his staff are wonderful. Right from the beginning, I was impressed with his knowledge and thoroughness. I know that because of him, I now have the tool that I need to permanently lose weight! He has always taken time to answer any and all questions and makes me feel special. His office staff are caring and personable! They always call me by name when I walk in; I feel like one of the "family". The Weight Loss Surgery Center is more than just the surgery that Dr. Clark performs. Dr. Clark does the surgery, and there is a nutritionist and psychologist on board also. Losing weight involves more than just the pounds loss! It is a total life change, and Dr. Clark's staff helps every step of the way. There are monthly seminars as well as a follow-up program. I highly recommend Dr. Clark and the WLSC! They are absolutely the best! I know they made me a LOSER!

Was a fantastic surgeon! Good bedside manner. He's a great surgeon...I'd recommend him. I no longer live close to my Surgeon, but I'd travel to see him for follow-up if I had to.
