Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery Bariatric Center
Prof. Weiner gave me my life back! I had my original surgery in May 2003. Three years later, I had gained a lot of weight & felt like a total failure. It turns out my stomach had not been transected as I had been told. My staple line had broken & I was again using my entire stomach. Prof. Weiner was the angel that shared this "good news" with me! He was so sweet telling me that it wasn't my fault. He took on the very difficult revison surgery (those are Dr. Pomhoff's words). I'm so thankful for this second chance. And even more grateful that he tells me at every visit that the weight gain wasn't my fault..it was surgical failure. I need to hear that!
I really liked Prof. Weiner. My impression over time has only gotten better. His staff was very helpful. Although they do not all speak English, I had no problem understanding or else they found someone who did speak English.
Prof Weiner is an excellent surgeon that does everything he can for his patients. He will have you sign a paper saying that you agree to keep up with his aftercare recommendations and he will schedule all after appointments at each appointment you have with him.
I would rate Prof Weiner as an excellent surgeon. His bedside manner and surgical competence were both great.
The only negative experience I have had with Prof Weiner is that several of us that have had him as a surgeon have been told different things as far as our post op diet and vitamin regimen.
My first impression of Dr Weiner was that he was very understanding and cut to the chase. He answered all my questions and listened to me completely. His office staff was polite. During the surgery he was very understanding of my nervousness and held my hand, carressed my face and told me it was going to be ok. We have been in complete contact through phone and e-mail. His english is very good. I would recommend Dr. Weiner to anyone who asks. He is a great surgeon.
Dr Weiner (who spoke excellent English, Thank God!) was a very nice man. He went through every process in detail and has experience in this kind of thing. Being overseas working for the US gov just kind of puts a monkey wrench in trying to get medical things done. But Germany is awesome when it comes to medical care. I am actually going to have to be in the hospital for a total 6 days. I go in the day before surgery for all my pre-op exams and the stuff you have to drink, etc. Right after surgery you spend the next 24 hours in ICU then you are moved up to the ward for another 4 days. Germans tend to believe in keeping you in the hospital for a lot longer than Americans. I am seeing the American hospital nutritionist and family care doctor for my aftercare. I will have to travel to Frankfurt at 1 month, 3-6-9-12 month anniversaries for checkups with the surgeon.
very knowledgeable about different procedures, great personal relationship with his patients
none, very attentive I have never been treated so well in a hospital.Dr. Weiner visited me at least four times per day during my stay he answered all of my questionsas well as being a wonderful physcian he also has a great sense of humor. I wished i could have packed him in my household goods and brought back to america. I think is the best physcian to perform this surgery. i have a friend who had this procedure in 1998 she had so many problems her first six months that i was afraid to try. I also had a stomach staple procedure performed in the states in 1996, i was not given the proper information on nutriton also i was not informed on follow-up labs needed or anything else i nedded to make this procedure a success. I was given a booklet to keep that informs each patient on the procedure the risk and different stages before durin and after the sugery, he has all of the skills listed below and this makes him a wonderful surgeron i would refer anyone to him.
I am going to meet with him for the last time on Nov 15th. I have surgery scheduled for Dec 08th.
He is very professional and confident. He is ranked #3 in the world for this surgery. He travels to the United States often to teach U.S. doctors how to perfect this procedure. He has no deaths from surgery.
He has a flawless, regimented system / program for each patient once they enter the hospital for the surgery.
