Cedars-Sinai Center for Weight Loss Bariatric Center
When I first met Dr. Cunneen I was so nervous I didn't know what to say, I just wanted to get approved. I met with him one more time before my surgery date, and a week after surgery. He has always been friendly, taken the time to answer my questions/concerns. I didn't have any complications whatsoever. I'm scheduled for my first fill 9/13/06. While I was very pleased with him I wasn't very happy with his office staff. During the approval process his nurses weren't getting back to me, their favorite time to call was friday's at 4:35. Try calling back and his office closes at 4:30. The administrative side of the office was great, Cynthia & Rassa, were very helpful. I was also a bit disappointed that I didn't get a call from his office once I got home from the hospital. My dentist called me after root canal! I think a nurse or at least one of the interns should call the day after discharge. The most important part, the surgery, went without any problems. The hospital couldn't have been nicer, I felt like I had private nurses! I would highly recommend Dr. Cunneen, he knows what he's doing and has excellent bedside manner, and Cedars-Sinai Hospital.
THERE WAS A LONG WAITING PERIOD JUST TO GET A CONSULTATION WITH HIM BUT VERY WELL WORTH IT....WITH HIS EXPERTISE THE VERY LONG WAIT WAS WORTH IT
STAFF WAS GREAT
I have just been to the surgery center once. I felt very informed and was treated very well. The office staff are very nice, the only problem I had was they requested I have a procedure done to check for gallbaldder problems, only problem is I don't have one. The also told me I needed to quit smoking, I havn't smoked for 20 years, they just read my chart wrong. The team consist of 4 Dr. the surgeon I saw does not do the surgery any longer, he takes care of the before and after care. I have not actually met the Dr that will do my surgery yet. Yes there is a structured aftercare program. The
My first impression of Dr. Cunneen was good. he was very nice and listened attentively. So far I've only met him once and am in the process of getting all my pre-op testing done so I don't have more to say about Dr. Cunneen. The office staff was nice and friendly. They seemed to be informative and sensitive to my needs. I expected to be provided with more information on the after effects of surgery like hair loss, vomiting, dumping, etc. The good thing is that I've been attending monthly support group sessions that were being provided by Dr. Fobi's Center for Surgical Treatment of Obesity (CSTO) for the last year and gained alot of GREAT info from people who had the surgery recently and years ago. The only other qualm I have with Dr. Cunneen's office is that I had to wait 6 months for an appointment for a consultation. But, I realize that so many people want to have this surgery done so I understand. I'm sure that Dr. Cunneen is very competant and the staff is too. I just can't wait to get the surgery done and start my new life as a thin and healthy person.
I really liked him and felt totally comfortable with him. His office staff is very busy so stay patient because they really are helpful and a great staff. All of my questions were answered and then some, we did discuss some aftercare but not that much. On a scale of 1-10 I would give the office a 9. I will let you know as my visits progress.
- I have nothing negative to say about the office only good things. If you have any questions just e-mail me. I CAN'T WAIT FOR SURGERY WITH THIS DOCTOR!!! I made the right decision for me and feel very confident.
My surgeon was fabulous. He listens and he has a great personality. He is very patient, you practically have to let him know you are done talking. He is the best! The office is great, Peggy is fantastic and always follows up. Dr Cunneen is in Los Angeles and I am in Orange County, 60 miles away. I have found my own support group. The f/up care with him is every 3 months for blood work, and a nutritional program. I do not need that, I can get that info closer to home. He did go over the risks of the surgery, especially since I have had stomach stapling before (18 yrs ago). He has fabulous bedside and office manner and great surgical competence. I am in health care for 10 years now, and he is a great dr!
Dr Cunneen was a really nice guy. He was easy to talk to and asnwered any and all of my questions. My mom got to go with me to my initial consult and was also impressed with him.
Aftercare is strictly emphasized. There is one year of mandatory aftercare. It's a bit costly, but hopefully my insurance company will pick up the tab.
I met his partner, Dr. Theodore Khalili, the day of my surgery. He was also terrific. I would highly recommend Drs. Khalili & Cunneen.
My first impression of Dr. Cunneen was very positive. He answered all of my questions and had a good manner with both me and my partner and overall gave what seemed to me a very balanced view of the risks and benefits of the surgery. My only concern was that he asked very few questions about me--but I guess he feels that he'll get most of what he needs from the extensive paperwork I filled out an the tests he has ordered. I am worried about aftercare--really all they have is a group with a nutritionist--which is at 4 p.m on Wednesdays--not a good time at all for most of us working folks. I think this is an issue for many of us as we often get the surgery quite a distance from where we live.
