Before deciding on Dr. Cunneen I visited with two other surgeons that I considered because they were located much closer to home. After those visits there was no question as to who I wanted for my surgeon.rnrnDr. Cunneen is friendly and cheerful. He was my daughter's surgeon so I had met with him in that context before. My first appointment was with Dr. Furman due to Dr. Cunneens busy schedule. Dr. Furman does not perform the surgery but he is warm and kind and an excellent educator. (The kind of doctor you would love to have as your family physician). rnThe office staff are great, they are friendly and efficient. Everyone there is quick to smile. The pre-op education is excellent and thorough. I'm just beginning the aftercare portion but it is strongly encouraged that you keep all post-op appointments and attend support groups they have on location. Dr. Cunneen as well as the nurses went over all the risks of surgery and explained what I could expect. I would give him and his staff a rating of Excellent. I think that surgical competence is the most important but feeling good about your doctor and how he responds to you is an important factor to me also. I am 72 hours out of surgery (a little over 24 in the hospital and now home) and have been nicely surprised that I feel better than I expected. Thank You!

My first impression of Dr. Cunneen was that he seemed like a very patient person, he sat with me and we discussed the surgery what the likely outcome would be and he answered all of my questions patiently and throughly, I loved his office it is clean and well kept, the office staff (although busy) were courteous and professional at all times.

I appreciated his direct manner. Good eye contact.rnrnGave me information, but respected that I had done tons of research and gave me credit for that.
I'm a patient of Doctor Miguel Burch at BMC in Boston. Dr. Burch has been one of the best Doctors I have ever met. When I first met him I went to the appointment with my parents and it was great to know that he is Bilingual (Spanish) because my parents do not speak English. Dr. Burch explained the procedures to my parents and myself. He explained all the risks and everything that I should've known regarding before and after surgery. I finally had my surgery October 4, 2006. I was sick after surgery and I have to say Dr. Burch took excellent care of me. He has great bedside manners and he did everthing he could to nurse me back to health. I have to say that my family and I are very pleased with Dr. Burch. If I had to do it all over again I would definately go with him again.
I went for my initial consult and feel so comfortable with Dr. Cunneen. He is informative, thorough and very pleasant. I probably asked a million and one questions and he answered every single last one without hesitation. The nurses and office staff were also wonderful to work with.
Update 9/25/2014 - Still a fantastic and extremely competent surgeon. I felt relaxed knowing I was in excellent care with Dr. Cunneen. He performed my lapband beautifully and then performed my revision to sleeve with the same precision.
He's a great surgeon. I didnt get to see alot of him but I can tell from the way I'm healing and everything that he did a wondful job. My first impression of him is very educated and a wonderful sense of humor, which always helps. The office staff is a lil wacked out I think, they get confused easily sometimes but the nurses are great! The thing I least like is how little I got to see him and he did not actually come to see me after the surgery, he sent his fellow, a resident. He was very thorough in going through the risks and all but I would have to say that his surgical competence is one the best and everyone knows agress. The nurses at the hospital made up for his lack of beside manners.
