    Daniel Shouhed, MD is a surgeon in the Department of Surgery within the division of bariatric and minimally invasive surgery. He specializes in laparoscopic surgery with clinical expertise in treating metabolic, endocrine and gastrointestinal disorders. Dr. Shouhed is a member of several medical societies, including the Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Shouhed has received honors and rewards for his accomplishments in research. He was awarded the Excellence in Research Award from the American College of Surgeons for his work in Human Factors research. He has presented his research at multiple national and international surgical meetings and has authored numerous publications in prestigious peer-reviewed journals including JAMA Surgery, Journal of the American College of Surgeons and World Journal of Surgery. He is also the author of several book chapters on topics ranging from the surgical management of metabolic syndrome, bariatric complications, and minimally invasive approaches to neuroendocrine tumors. Dr. Shouhed is mutli-lingual; in addition to English, he speaks Spanish, French and Farsi. Dr. Shouhed graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles where he was inducted into the society of Phi Beta Kappa. He received his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego. He completed his general surgery residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he received the chief resident teaching award. He went to New York to complete a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital, with a clinical focus on bariatric, endocrine, foregut and colorectal surgery.
