Carle Foundation Hospital Bariatric Center
My first impression that he is very nice and friendly. He answered all my questions. He did not speak in long medical terms. His office staff is the typical office personal. He showed a video of the possible risks involved in the surgery.
Dr. Oliphant does have a structured aftercare program. You seem 1 week after the surgery then 1 month and 6 months then one year and every year after that. You must keep a food diary of everything you eat.
Ann is main nurse totally stressed the after care program and the care of the stapleline.
My first impression was caring.
My impression changed over time because Dr. Oliphant became more caring.
The staff was awsome helpful in every way no matter what you had to say they were there.
I liked the care and concern Dr. Oliphant had to offer.
Dr. Oliphant stresses after care as well as his nurse Ann more than you could ever realize.
The after care program is very st5uctered nothing goes unless they say so.
They were open and honest about the risks of the surgery which then put my mind to ease.
I would personally rate Dr. Oliphant number 1 in the State of Illinois.
There is no comparison they were both equal .
I haven't met Dr. Rowitz yet; however, I have heard great things about him and his staff. I will let you know how it goes.
I have been to my first consult with Dr. Rowitz. He and his staff were most helpful. They scheduled my surgery and all of the test that I will need before hand. They did all of this the first visit. They are also filing my claim for me. Overall they have been very helpful so far.
As for addressing the risks of surgery, I wrote down as many questions as I could think to ask, and took my mom along for back up. He answered most everything on my list before I even asked. So far I am pleased with the service I got from this surgeon.
I just wanted to add, Dr. Rowitz is a wonderful person. From the moment I met him, I knew he was my surgeon of choice. He is very professional, very caring, and he hears what you are saying. He doesn't just listen, he hears. I attend his support group meetings and I highly recommend everyone that can attend, should attend. I have attended other support group meetings but his by far are the best. His staff is extremely helpful and kind. You feel like you have made a friend. Dr. Rowitz is always looking for ways to improve his program. He asks for ideas from his patients. He is always striving to learn more about the surgery and any complication or issues that may arise from the surgery. If you have attended one of his support group meetings, you know what I am talking about. The bottom line is, I can't say enough good about Dr. Rowitz. I feel completely safe in his very capable hands.
DR. Rowitz in Anderson, SC accepts Medicaid!!!! I'm looking forwarding to meeting him July 10,2002!!!!
My first impression of Dr. Rowitz and his staff...I was completely at ease. He is very caring and talks to me in such and understanding and non-judgemental way. His nurse that I have been dealing with, Debbie, has been sent to me directly from my prayers. She keeps in touch with me and she never gets frustrated with me when I call her at least twice a week.
Dr. Rowitz wanted to make sure I had all the information necessary to make my final decision. He wanted me to understand that I would be seeing him till either of us moved or parred away! :) I felt much better knowing that he would be seeing me long term since my PCP wasn't really thrilled about the surgery.
Dr. Rowitz has an extensive program getting its feet off the ground in Anderson with a Psychologist, Nutritionist and Support Group.
As far as anything negative to say...I would prefer to have the procedure performed at a different facility. Anderson Area Medical Center is one o f my very least favorite places to be. (as a nursing student in another area I have been in several facilities to make this comparison fairly)
Dr. Oliphant was very pleasant. He has a
reassuring voice and attitude. He made me
feel very comfortable and was willing to answer
any questions I had. He has really impressed
me w/the meetings. At the first one he attend
he came in and just wanted to listen to what
we had to say. He only spoke when he was asked
a question. You could tell he was listening
and was not just sitting there. He is a Trauma
Surgeon also, so he is very busy..but he found
the time to come up and listen to us. During that same
meeting we had samples of a protien drink that
his nutritionist brought in. There was about
30 of us in the meeting. The nutritionist poured
the drink and Dr. Oliphant came around and
passed out a cup of it to each and everyone one
of us. I don't ever remember a Dr. who waited on
me like that before. He made me feel like
he is no better than us just because he is our
surgeon. I have also been hearing people who
have had some problems w/certain staff members.
Dr.Oliphant took it into his own hands and
handled it himself. He seems to be a very
caring Dr. and I am soooooo glad that I have
chosen him. I did have one small problem w/my
first visit w/him. I only talked to him for 10
minutes. He did not make me feel rushed, but
for some reason there was nothing in my file
for him to go by. No diet history no letters
from my sleep apnea Dr. nothing. So it was
rather short, but it was not his fault.
I met Dr. Rowitz on Jan. 23. He does not sugar coat the surgery. He tells you everything you need to know. Make sure if you have any questions to write them down and take them with you. I did not do that. He told me to e-mail him with any questions that I can think of. His office staff will help with the insurance and will even do the first appeal. I would recommend him to anyone. He does not believe in smokeing. I am going to have to quit for the surgery. It will be worth it in the long run.
