Dr. Rowitz is an outstanding physician, surgeon, and all-around nice guy to boot.
I first met Dr Rowitz when my wife was contemplating surgery. He offered informational seminars and support groups that were available to anyone considering weight loss surgery and their friends and family. During the Support Group meetings, he would bring in other resources related to ongoing post-operative care (dieticians, trainers, etc) as well have "Testimonials" where patients could discuss their experience.
If he didn't know then answer, either he or his PA MaryLee would find out the answer, and get back to the person as quick as possible. Dr Rowitz worked with patients to make sure they had all the information available
about the surgery, its affects, and live after surgery, so they could make an informed choice. And if the patient decided that the time was not right, he accepted that decision, and indicated that he would be there when the time was right.

Dr Rowitz gives off an aura that the situation is always under control, regardless of what may be going on around him. If he isn't the right resource, he will find the right resource. IF he doesn't know the answer, he will find out or find someone who can give you the correct answer, as well as be able to answer any follow up questions.

I was upset to learn that Dr Rowitz was leaving the practice at AnMed, but I was glad to hear that he was moving into a position where people could continue to benefit from his skills; patients from his surgical skills and other doctors and surgeons from his knowledge and experience.

My procedure could not have gone any smoother. I met and worked with some of the nicest people I have ever met in the medical field. Dr. Oliphant is my hero and if I could work along side him as an assissant I would in a heartbeat. This was no cake walk, don't get me wrong--but I was prepared because I asked questions BEFORE I went in for surgery and I LISTENED to what other folks told me to be in the know about. I probably worked with at least 15 nurses and techs during my hospital stay at CARLE and every last one of them made me feel like I was there one and only patient. Hats off to all of those guys, they sure know how to do it the right way!!!

My first impression of Dr. Oliphant was a neutral one. He answered my questions and explained my procedure to me. By the second time I saw him, I knew I liked him. He was very professional, and takes his job VERY seriously, but you could tell he had a sense of humor as well. I also attended a bariatric seminar when he spoke. He is very passionate about what he does and I couldn't be more pleased with the care I received as a patient of Dr. Oliphant and his staff. He answers all questions and concerns and you can tell he GENUINELY cares about ALL of his patients. I felt I was in GREAT hands through my entire procedure and hospital stay. His staff is amazing as well. They NEVER forget to return a call and they all care about patients as well. They didn't hesitate to answer any questions I had, big or small. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking into bariatric surgery.

I've really enjoyed working with Dr. Rowitz. He did my gallbladder surgery 12 years ago and recently did my RNY. He's always been very friendly and answered any and all questions that I might have had. He even worked personally with my other 2 doctors with some other issues I was having. I was very impressed by this! My overall experience has been great. Had some issues with some office staff, but what can you do? Sometimes you just gotta sit back and realize you are not their only patient. So I just took it in strides. That never made me think of not using him though. He's the best in this area!

Long story short I wish i had more time to learn more bout Rowitz. I was dealt the card with his name on in an emergency room problem. I had been already been checled by the ER Doctor and told what was found yet Rowtz was passing it off like it was nothing.. I was in pain and the ct scan showed something. He bout left me hanging but due to me not keeeping my mouth shut and pushing to letting him know and others know I know my body and something was wrong. He made me feel i was wasting his time. I was fine .. and my pain was like all in my head bout to send me on my way but went a head to watch over night and run a few test but really acted and made me feel stupid and like i was wasting his time and i needed to go home and deal with it. but he decided after i called into health advocate and made a stink to watch me over night my pain didn't change my feeling didn't change and / felt horrible and in my pain and he wanted to just give me just Tramadol.. Doctors like this is y we feel intemedatedd to come in an be seen like we need to and end up with more problems. I was in the best care....DR. Oliphant took the time to answer my questions and concerns before and after surgery. His staff was awsome and made me feel so comfortable. I would recommend him to anyone and i do. There was nothing i didn't like about Dr. Oliphant and his staff they were kind, educated, caring and tended to every need possible. He is very strict and i loved that. He don't sugar coat anything and will not do the surgery if u can't seem to do what is ask of u. He tell u the risk of surgery and goes over every detail in full which made me feel at ease. He is very well educated at what he does and talk in a way that u understand everything he is talking about unlike other doctors they talk in those doctor terms noone gets if u are not a doctor.. Thank You Dr. Oliphant and his staff for saving my life and giving me hope

I truly liked Dr. Rowitz from the first time we met. I had a lot of questions and he took my list and we discussed every point. He is professional and yet friendly. At the hospital he was careful to give me enough time to be comfortable about going home. I feel lucky to have found such a skilled and friendly surgeon right in my hometown.

When I first met Dr. Oliphant in Aug.2010, he was very to the point and made sure that I would follow the plan. The lap band is a tool not a solution. I really thought about that after my meeting with him. I did have to wait forever for my psychiatrist appt. I like that they make you go support group meetings before hand and I also had to have a training. Dr. Oliphant and his staff are very nice! Ann is wonderful and very honest. The only thing I can say negative about him is that I never was seen with in a half hour of my appt time. But that could be with any DR. I also was not thrilled with the caller from preop. She was not very friendly. I understand she has a job to do and that she has lots of people to talk to in the day, but it does not give her the right to be rude. Dr. Oliphant cares very much about after care and lets you know if you don't follow his instructions then you will not lose weight. After surgery he was very nice...not that I can remember much. I feel strongly that if you are going to have wls then he is a great person to go to.

Dr. Oliphant is very professional. It is obvious he cares about what he is doing. At first he was very by the book and formal, but once I got to know him he warmed up. He is genuine and has high expectations for his clients-he expects you to follow his orders. All of his staff are very friendly and caring. His nurse Ann is outstanding! They do stress aftercare, if you can not commit to do it they may not do the surgery. They were very up front about every aspect of the surgery. I had to go in for a 4 hour class about the surgery and after. They covered everything from what to expect before and after including all the tubes and wires I would be hooked up to ,to the risks and complications. They are easy to get a hold of if I need something. Overall ,even though I have had some complications with my surgery that some people do not have, they have been really great both surgically and with bedside manner.
