Benefis Bariatric Institute Bariatric Center
I met Dr. Rohrer April 20, 2004, during my initial checkup. He was very pleasant, and very informative on what was to happen before, during and after surgery. He told me what to expect, and about all the complications, along with the benefits that this surgery would entail. My husband was with me, and Dr. Rohrer willingly answered all of both mine and my husbands questions. I felt that after this consultation, I had made the right choice, and was ready to have the surgery. Lisa his nurse, was also very helpful, and pleasant to work with.
My first surgeon was Dr. Jake Allen of Great Falls. He was a very nice man and helped me a great deal in making my decision to have surgery. He did my husbands surgery and there were no complication and my husband did very well after surgery. My surgery date was scheduled and a week before surgery the surgeon cancelled claiming a family medical emergency. After several weeks and no communication from the surgeon, I was told by his administrative assistant that I might want to find a different doctor. So I did.
Dr. David Rohrer, also in Great Falls, is one of the finest surgeons that I could have ended up with. I am so lucky that Dr. Allen dumped me. Dr. Rohrer is very professional, he talks very easily with patients and gives way more information than Allen did. He has professional materials with great pictures that explain what the procedure consists of and he goes through all of it with you. Dr. Rohrer is kind and gentle in his manner and he has a way about him that made me very comfortable. His office was very nice and accommodating to large people. He has a lot of aftercare in his program and promotes an aftercare group. He was very good in explaining all the risks of surgery, and in my case all the risks in not having surgery as well. When I was in the hospital I had a fever and a lot of pain, the hospital staff called him several times on my behalf and he always knew exactly what to do to get me through what ever I was suffering from at that moment. He came to see me at the hospital every day and made sure I was getting good care from the staff there. I liked everything about him. I recommend him highly. He is an excellent surgeon and has an excellent bedside manner.
I was very impressed with him. My first visit, March 5, 2004, was almost 2 hours and he looked me in the eye, answered all my questions. He was very thorough on the risks of the surgery and the benefits also.
I also told him I was getting lots of information from the internet. He also gave me lots of info to read. I had to have stress test done before he would do the surgery. I am from out of town but made a temorary date of April 26, so my husband could take off work and be with me the 10 days we'll be in Great Falls.
Staff very helpful and put at ease many times. I rate Dr. David Rohrer was one of the best of the best!
Cadiologist in Bozeman, Dr. Blair Erb, wanted to do a drug ecogram, when date arrived, my boob was to big and couldn't get a good picture. Next, stress drug test. I am left leg above the knee amputee the reason for the drug stress test. It showed the same shawdowy blockage as lasts years tests so up to Great Falls to Dr. Howard Feldman to have angiogram and if needed stents put in. Well, that was April 16, and I was clean and heart in excellent shape. He said sometimes the cardiolite has that shawdowy effect but nothing there! He called Dr. Royrer right then and there!!!!!
I called as soon as I was able to surgery talk with office, Liza, and got the date permanent, third surgery of the day, rechecked on Great Falls Inn reservations with micro and refrigerator. Next I shopped for my boullion, sugar free jello, sugar free popsycles, and I already donated all my other food item to the food bank.
My impression of Dr. Rohrer only got better, on the day of surgery, during my hospital stay, just excellent. We have not discussed aftercare except that I will be under my interist in Bozeman, Dr. Pam Hiebert. I also contacted a nutritionist for an appointment after surgery as the first two weeks were pretty spelled out. The rest of the stages were too, but all my contact on the internet advised getting a nutritionist.
Highly recommend him.

The first time I met the Doctor was on Friday april 23 and went to surgery on april 26th. He was very good. He explained in detail everything I had questions on and took the time to answer all my questions in detail. He is very direct and to the point which to me is the best thing. We did discuss aftercare and what is expected and all that. He did set up a nutrionist to come see me and did talk with me after the surgery about the aftercare. I more paperwork about it then I like to think about but I everything I should know in one place. I would highly recommend him to future patients for several reasons. Not the least of which is his competence (600 + surgeries).
Dr. Roeher and his office staff were at all times friendly & helpful, to the point, but that was fine. Made sure he had answered all my questions.
Very thorough in every sense of the way. Would greatly recommend him.
I was very at ease from the moment the doctor walked in the room. His nurse, Lisa, was super sweet. Dr. Rohrer actually has obesityhelp.com listed as a resource on his handouts to the patients. I told them both that I've read so many great things about them on this website. They really appreciated that and the fact that others have said great things about them. He talked alot about the risks of this surgery. He also went over what to expect on the day of surgery and the days after before being released. So far, I would recommend this doctor and his staff to anyone contemplating this surgery. I honestly can't think of anything negative say about my initial consult.
Dr. Rohrer is an excellent surgeon and just seemingly a very interested person. He has ever rushed me and I know that I have put him behind schedule with my relentless questioning.
My opinion of him really hasn't changed. He is always prompt in getting back to me and if he isn't, he always calls. I have had him call at 7:30 if that is any indicator of I believe his integrity as your care provider.
The other thing that I would think is important to inform people of is that I had a hand assisted laproscopic procedure. Had I opted to go to Salt Lake, I would have had to have had an open surgery, because I was to large for lap down there. With this technique, Dr. Rohrer is able to do laproscopic surgery on virtually all of his patients, regardless of their size. Of course, some have had to be opened, but I think that he doesn't have to open many. The other important thing is that I was only in surgery for 45 minutes. That is amazing. I should clarify and say the form cut time, I was in for 45 minutes. I know that this is correct, because a friend of mine, who was also my follow up Physician, went into surgery with me. He himself is a surgeon, but not a bariatric or general surgeon. In my area, there are no doctors performing Wls, so my firend was kind enough to go along, not only for support, but so that he was informed about just exactly what went on, so that he knew how to care for me. He is not the kind of surgeon to give praise where it is not due, and the word he used was "slick". 45 minutes under anesthesia is a very good thing.
I believe that they have an organized aftercare program, but Great Falls is 6 hours away, so I go here.
His office staff is small, and at the time I had surgery, he only had 1 girl in the office who did everything from the time you walked in, until you left, so sometimes, she seems a little short, but I try to remember that she has a lot on her shoulders. I think he has since hired someone else to help.
Dr. Rohrer has both great skill in the OR and at your bedside. I was self pay and he was very aware and helpful with that aspect. He allowed me to go home on Saturday, after surgery on the prior Thursday. I stayed there in Great Falls for the rest of the week, and had a followup right about 1 week postop.
He was very informative about the risks and the only negative I can tell you is that I had some funny swelling a month out of surgery, but there wasn't any discomfort associated with it at the time, but that proved to be the hernia that I had to have repaired. I also will tell you that the repair has been compromised, and Dr. Rohrer is the one that I want to fix it, I trust him, and I will be a very mindful patient after this last ordeal.
Dr. Rohrer was very patient and kind. My consultation with him was wonderful. He explained everything very thoroghly and clearly. He took the time to answer all of our questions and didn't treat us like he had other patients waiting. Lisa, his nurse, is very pleasant and helpful. I felt very comfortable in their office and would recommend Dr. Rohrer to everyone.
He was great. Took lots of time on our first visit to explain the procedure to me and answer all of my questions. I only got to meet him once before my surgery, but he made me feel totally comfterble with him and with the procedure. He explained the risks very well, and in terms that a common person can understand.
I can't say much about his aftercare because I live too far away to see him. But whenever I have called or emailed with a question either he or Lisa answers me quickly. And his bedside manner is very friendly and helpful. I never felt like I was just another number.
I rate him very high on both surgical cometence and bedside manner.
