Dr. Friedman did lapband on myself & husband in Jan. & Feb.this year (09). Our first impression of him was that he was very informative & discussed all the risks pertaining to this surgery. His office staff is great & they all really encourage you to attend the support groups & never make you feel bad if you call with a question. Dr. Friedman is a caring compassionate Dr. with the best interest of his patients at heart. My husband & I have only grown to like him more with each visit. In my opinion surgical competence is A MUST but, bedside manner is important. Dr. Friedman has both. We would highly recommend him if you are considering WLS.
I had my Lap band surgery October 2008. I am a RN who has spent many years working in the Surgical ICU. I now work on the transplant team. Lets just say I know good surgeons. I used my connections at all the major hospitals locally and did my research before making appointment: I asked the nurses at all the hospitals what it was like to work with him, I talked to OR staff, and I asked fellow Surgeons what they thought of him. I heard over and over \"Friedman is THE BEST\" & \" I wouldn't take my family members to anyone else\". His skill set alone make him and outstanding surgeon, but it is his bedside manner and care for his patients that astounded me. Working with surgeons all the time,and knowing some of the best in the world, I was still skeptical and not sure he could make me comfortable. The very first time I met him, when I was telling him my struggle with wieght loss, He put down his clipboard looked me in the eye and really listened to me. I felt like he really cared about me, and my struggle. My husband had lots of concerns and he addressed each of those too.From a healthcare prespective his education and pre-surgery plan was AWESOME. Everything from a support group to professional specialists, to classes. I was thrilled with the level of education provided. After my surgery, I did great. I went home and had no complications. The team was great, and their customer service was outstanding. I am so GLAD I chose Dr. Friedman. I now tell everyone, \" he is the best, don't go anywhere else\". I have always said if you want to go to the best doctor ask the nurses who they go see, and who they take their family to, for me and nearly every nurse I know, we go to Friedman. He is the Best.
On 20 February 2009 I had the gastric bypass RNY with Dr. Jeffrey Freidman in Pensacola, Florida. Dr. Friedman and his staff are professional and always make an effort to make you feel comfortable and welcome. I find myself very hard press to find anything negative to say. I had absolutely no complications during or after the surgery. Before the surgery I was very well informed on what the actual procedure entailed, what to expect during my hospital stay and very well schooled on what my restrictions and post surgery diet entailed. If you are looking for a doctor and staff that work together for your benefit, who has a support program before and after surgery and provide the tools you need to reach your goal; Dr. Friedman and his staff is what you are looking for. rnrnDiane W. rnValparaiso, Florida
My first impression of Dr. Nye and his staff was that they seemed very casual. I felt at ease instantly. The staff acts as if they have known you forever. His wife is a delight and was very iformative. I also feel that he is a straight shooter. He get's down to business, but doesn't make you feel rushed. It is a good balance.rnrnI think it is important to realize how much experience he has in both WLS as well as surgery in general. I knew I was in good hands. rnrnThe pre and post op care are excellent. With me being a self pay, it would have been easy for them to just schedule me without the normal nutrition and psych evals that insurance requires, but he did not. i still had to do all of that and am glad I did.rnrnHe was very honest and thorough in his explanations of the risks and possible complications. My husband and I appreciated that greatly. My surgery went like clockwork and I am having no problems and I feel great. rnrnHe made it very clear that my success was going to depend on me. He explained that this wasn't a magic cure, but a tool and if I didn't do my part and drink all my fluids, take my vitamins EVERY DAY, and exercise, than this would not work. I went in knowing I had to do my part and as long as I did I would be a success.rnrnI would reccomend Dr. Nye to anyone 100%. He is both competant as well as thoughtful and for someone who had not ever been in a hospital except to have kids, that made me feel very at ease. rnrnI truly cannot think of anything negative to say, even something small. In fact, while he was doing my surgery, he even took care of some adhesions I had from my past c-section.rn
Dr. Friedman and all of the girls on staff (Amanda, Bonnie, Amy, Glenda & Betty) are absolutely INCREDIBLE, i have never felt more comfortable with a doctor's office. Dr. Friedman has been wonderful, from my initial consult to my follow up care. When i was in the hospital everyone in the office came to check on me, how often do you hear that? i am actually a baptist employee so i see Dr. Friedman around and you know how most Dr's would be stuck up and not speak to you, not Dr. Friedman every time he see's me no matter how big of a rush or how busy he is he always makes it a point to stop and ask me how i am doing and comment me on my progress. It always makes me feel like a million bucks to have him speak to me! it makes me feel special and that he actually cares about how i am doing. He has the best personality and just makes you feel comfortable. I would most definately recomend Dr. Friedman to anyone interested in having weight loss surgery, he is by far the best Dr i have ever had. Dr. Friedman and his staff have been really great to work with. My surgery went very well amd my aftercare has been great. Dr.Friedman has a wonderful bedside manner adn he really truly seems to care about his patients. I would recommend Dr. Friendman to anyone considering weight loss surgery. rnHe is the best!!!
I have struggled with my weight for a long time and after reading about the Lap Banding procedure I knew it was what I wanted to do. I called Dr. Friedman's office and set up my initial apointment. Dr. Friedman was very easy to talk to, he explained everything to my understanding and I was very confident that I had made the right decision in choosing him to do my surgery. My husband was thrilled at how confident I was in Dr. Freidman that it made him more comfortable with my having the procedure. He is very patient and easy going with me and did not rush the visit in any way. I was comfortable asking questions also. His staff was very nice and pleasent. During my overnight hospital stay when he came in to see me he was his same pleasent and easyging self. He answered all questions I had. I have recommeded him to some of my firends who are looking into this surgery. One of them already has an appointment with him and two others are waiting for their appointments.
My first impression was aloof. But over time he has been wonderful. his manner the hospital was excellent. The office is great.He emphasizes a lot of after care. Yes, he has a structured aftercare. My last appoinment with him he explained the risks. I am a RN educator and the Baritric floor is one of my floors. Surgical Competence is better. But Dr. Friedman has both surgical competence nad great bedside manner.
Dr. Friedman was excellent and the staff was also fantastic. All my expectations have been met to this point and looking forward to getting healthier every month from here on out. I would rate him a 10!!
