I was comfortable right away. He, and another Dr asked and answered alot of questions. He said he will do a LAP if I get my BMI below 50. He said the aftercare program was just getting up and running. Didn't feel there would be a problem of approval.

My surgeon ended up switching right before surgery. 1 week before
the surgery was changed from open to lap and Dr. Wallace (lap specialist) and Dr. Nakeeb (the rny specialist)
were to perform the operation. I met with Dr. Wallace for an hour about the procedure. I felt really good even though
I was only the 10th lap procedure they had done. Dr. Nakeeb I met the morning of surgery; he doesn't say much but I have nothing
bad to say about him. He was interested in my welfare and I felt comfortable.

Both doctors emphasized greatly the risks of surgery and the aftercare. They don't have a formal program but they do expect to see me again.

I would rate them both a 10/10.

I believe that bedside manner is really important to help the patient believe in the doctor. It is such an unknown choice when you pick a surgeon.
I would definitely choose surgical competence over bedside manner.

My first impression of him was, "his name is attila, is this a good thing?" Then I met him he was so nice, and compassionate. He didn't make me feel bad for being fat. He didn't make me feel like it was my fault. He has these really big eyes, and he is always making eye contact. It seems almost as if he is staring at you or trying to pick you up or something, but its nice.
His office staff is nice, and competent. Sometimes, they do get busy, and you do have to call and remind them of somethings. My overall experience with them has been nice so far.
Come prepared and if you have questions don't be afraid to ask!
He isn't as strick with aftercare as some of the other surgeons, but he does stress its importance. It could be alittle bit more sturctured. I give him a five stars ***** :)

My sugeon is Dr Atilla Nakeeb at Froedert hospital in milwakee Wi. He was so great he assured me that I would have no problem with ins. and he told me the next day I was approved. His staff is fantastic Everyone gave me thier cards and encouraged me to call for any reason. It's three months post now and i want this dr.s ass in a sling he butchered me in many ways. I would NOT recommend anyone go to this dr. or hospital i feel it would be unsafe for ANY reason. He is still very "nice" however completely incompetant as far as im concerned he did me now good to my health at all.I may just be a crabby patient but i really dont think so.

Just met with my surgeon, Dr. Attila Nakeeb at the the Medical College of Wisconsin Physicians and Clinics at Froedtert Hospital. What a great guy! Not only answered all my questions cheerfully and thoroughly, but also told me a lot I didn't know. He also won kudos for entertaining me with a perfectly horrible (but entirely accurate) drawing of the surgery. (Hey--he majored in science--not art). No stereotypical surgeon's attitude here, by any means. I asked him why he does this sort of surgery (he is also an assistant professor at the Medical College, and does GI surgery--not just gastric bypass). His answer is that he loves people, and enjoys following up and seeing people's lives change so dramatically for the better. He is a strong advocate for WLS.

He was very frank about the risks of the surgery--infection, etc. He transects the stomach--he doesn't just staple it.

He was delighted I had researched WLS online, and warned me he and I would be seeing a lot of each other over the next few months. Tentatively, pending insurance cooperation, I could have the surgery as soon as the beginning or middle of November! My date for the psych eval/dietician is Tuesday October 26. He likes his WLS patients to see the dietician before the surgery to discuss post-surgical eating schedules, etc.

Office staff was efficient and kind.

Arms on the chairs in the waiting room! BAD!
