Attila Nakeeb, M.D. Bariatrics Bariatric Center

My first impression of Dr. Nakeeb is that he is a very kind, knowledgable and empathetic man. He has good listening skills (especially for a surgeon!!) and seemed more than willing to answer all of my questions. The office staff was okay. I knew three of the staff members, Deb, Laura and Susan, from previous meetings. I wasn't impressed with the nurse who took me back to get me weighed (they really need a different scale!) and took my blood pressure (with a cuff that was too small) and my other vitals. I was happy that the waiting room had roomy, comfortable chairs. :)
Dr. Nakeeb is very straight-forward in his conversation about the surgery and was very clear that this is a "Real" surgery and that there are very real risks associated with it. He shared with me some vague details about a couple patients he had lost (not directly as a result of the surgery, but after the surgery) and I was pleasantly surprised at his honesty.
I think Dr. Nakeeb is probably a very competent, honest and caring person and I feel pretty comfortable with him being the one to cut me open!

Dr Nakeeb is a very knowledgable surgeon. If I didn't truly believe he knows his stuff, I wouldn't let him cut me open. He is friendly, honest and capable. I will post further observations after my surgery.

Met with Dr. Nakeeb on 11/12/01 - all I have to say is that I trust him, I trust him, and did I mention that I trust him. What a great man!

I liked Dr. Nakeeb right away. He was very friendly. He made me feel very comfortable and and ease. I feel that he is a straight forward person no beating around the bush, which I very much liked. I feel that the staff at the medical college and Froedert hospital are great.

He is a caring and warm person who has my full trust. I feel very fortunate to have him. The office staff is helpful and kind. They return calls and address all concerns.
He is skilled in open RNY and lap and doesn't hesitate to go to open if there is any risk. They have a great support group and an aftercare program. He has you meet with dietitian and office staff as well as a lecture he provides before you ever go to the office. They then begin your preop testing that day. It is a very efficient process done in groups of 9. The office visit is individual.
Surgical competence is the most important but if I couldn't talk to the surgeon, I wouldn't be able to trust him.
I have nothing negative to say at this point. He has been only helpful as is Laura his assistant.

*Update* I have made an initial appointment with Dr. Nakeeb, and Dr. Wallace who preform Lap surgery instead of open, will post more on them when I have my appointment. *****had my appointment with Dr. Nakeeb on March 5th, and he was great. I couldn't have asked for a nicer surgeon. He seems like not only a sweet and caring man, but a competent doctor, who explained everything that could possibly be explained. He and his staff went through everything that could possibly happen. I give him a rating of ten so far..... I do have to say that while in the hospital, I felt very well attended to by Dr. Nakeeb, and even Dr. Wallace came in to talk to me about my surgery. Deb, the nurse practitioner even came to check up on me. I think, that all in all, the whole experience was made much more bearable by this great team! I would recommend Froedert Hospital, and Dr. Nakeeb, and Wallace in a heartbeat! ***** 5 star rating by me also!

My first impression of Dr. Nakeeb was that he was nice and he knew what he was talking about. He came to visit me both days I was in the hospital (including Sunday). His staff was great, and answered all of my questions. He explained all of the risks and how often they happen. There is a support group once a month. (last monday of the month). I would rate him as a very good surgeon. Both surgical competence and bedside manner were great.

My first impression was that I liked his style very much, it was very easy-going while being straightforward about possible risks involved with the surgery. He answered all my questions and seemed to truly care. Overall, I would rate him very highly. The worst thing is the long time between actually getting your first appointment (about 6 wks after calling) and getting surgery scheduled (about 5 months). Froedtert Lutheran Hospital has a policy that this is considered a cosmetic procedure if your insurance won't cover it, and requires 100% up front (currently $25,000). We were also told that if there are complications, it could well exceed $100,000. Since I had problems with previous surgeries, I brought up some of the problems, which he addressed. The way Froedtert is set up, I believe that I will only have one appointment with him before the surgery. Froedtert's bariatric team operates as a team, using Dr. Schulte, Dr. Nakeeb, and Dr. Wallace.
