Theresa is a Christian and always said that no matter what, she would be better off for having had this surgery. If it worked she would be thinner and if she died she would be in heaven...may you suffer no more my friend. God bless you and keep you in His tender loving care.

To the friends of Theresa McLeary, Feb.22,2001 Well, I am ashamed to post because I have not in such a long time, I just sort of let life go by and was selfish in not keeping you all updated on Theresa's condition. Theresa's husband and son have been told that she has less than 48 hours to live.Theresa left the hospital where I last saw her and went to a nursing home to rehabilitate. She had no strength and had fallen during her attempts to get out of bed and get her strength back. Theresa did not follow instructions and did not eat her protein to build herself up. At this time the doctors say her liver is so damaged as a result of not getting adequate protein , that its just a matter of time before her other systems start shutting down. I am asking all of you to help us pray for her. She's on a respirator and doesn't know anything. As you know, she's only 44 years old and has Wayne, her 8 year old son and of course Terry, her husband. Please help me pray for God's will for Theresa to be done. I barely knew her, having only met her once when I visited her at the hospital. She was a sweet person and I am sure all of you who knew her better than I did, have some wonderful memories of her. Please take a minute and reach out to her family with your prayers. As you know Theresa had no insurance and this 7 months of post-operative care has taken its toll on her family's finances. I promise I will update you with any news, bad or good, as soon as I am contacted. Lets get out those prayer list and start a prayer list going for her. Again, I am so ashamed that I didn't keep up with posting for all of you who really knew her.

Today I finally met Theresa. I walked in her hospital room and even though we've never met, she knew it was me. I took her some beautiful roses and I printed her card from all of you, thanks to a sweet lady who reminded me to and also said something very sweet about me as Theresa's angel. Theresa was thrilled with the card and said she would read it after I left so she could savor each post. We talked as if we had known each other for years instead of months. There is something magical about the bond that WLS people share. She is feeling much better and I know that she is on the mend. She would like very much not to have to go to a nursing home, but I fear she would not do too well being on her own at home during the day. She still will have a long healing time with her 24 inch incision having to heal from the inside out. She would have a visiting nurse to help with dressing changes but if she fell who knows how long she would lie there before help came. I am of the opinion that she should go on to the nursing home and get strong and completely healed before trying her solo act. She said Terry would help her stand again tonight. I stayed an hour and a half and was afraid it was too long but she didn't want me to leave. I will try to visit more often in the future. Lets not let up on our prayers as we all know that is the only reason she is here with us today.

Hi Teresa, I have been reading about your progress and decided to let you know that I put your name out in our church bullitin. We are praying for you and your family. Some one here said that when one of us is sick we all feel a little sick and that is so true. My heart is waiting for you to feel better. I know that sounds odd coming from a stranger but we really do know each other. We have walked in each others shoes so often. Thats one of the things I love so much about ths site. You stay strong, keep that attitude positive and tel your family to do the same. You now have a church full of some prayin' women behind you. Bythe way, your angel is doing a great job. She is wearing those wings well. Love Trina

Today I had a most pleasant surprise. My phone rang and it was Terry, Theresa's husband. He asked me if I would like to speak to Theresa and of course I said yes. She sounded so good, unlike the last time we spoke. She says she is getting stronger and the nurses had her standing up today. She says she has lost around 100 pounds!! I am so proud for her mostly because her spirit seems so up-beat. She says as soon as she learns to pivot and sit down, she will get to go to a nursing home for her rehabilatation. I don't know how long this will take, but hey, its a start for her to get better and be able to go home. Both hubby and son were with her and she seemed happy to be alive. She knows that all of you have been praying for her and she appreciates that so much. I hope to get to go see her tomorrow. She would be so surprised since we have never met. Will post more later. Keep those prayers coming in.
