the past few days jeremy hasn't been doing too well. they said he has a blood infection and they are suctioning a lot of thick brown gunk out of his lungs. he is now getting antibiotics that he started last night for the blood infections and they seem pretty confident that is will work. he has been running a fever of 102 for almost a week straight. i saw his bed sores yesterday and they didn't impress me too well. everything he has been eating, he has been throwing back up and his white blood count went up to 24,000. now, yesterday muscarella did an endoscopy and found that there is a little ulcer in jeremy's tummy and they started some pills for that today. he still didn't take out the dead-end feeding tube sticking out of his abdomen, though. he also gave jeremy an ng tube to help feed him very nutritional stuff. they said that is why his sores aren't healing very well, because he has no nutrients in his system. so he will have the tube for 2-3 weeks. he can also eat, though, if he wants to. i think this is for the best. now, for the great news. yesterday, jeremy sat up on the edge of the bed for the first time! he lasted 15 whole minutes without heart or breathing problems :) i could see he was in pain, but he didn't complain or cry. it was so nice to see him that way and he looked wonderful, too. they will try again tomorrow and see if he can last even longer :) i'm so happy. now, today jeremy looks really good, even though he still has the fever and stuff, but he is awake and conversing. :0) i love him so much. i even got him to laugh a few times. it's so nice to see him smile a little bit. at night we have to keep his hands restrained, because he pulled out the last ng tube he had about 2 months ago. but, all is good now and i think we are on the right track. they told us yesterday to maybe look forward to being home by memorial day, instead of easter. thanks for the prayers :)
love,
