hello everyone. jeremy is still not doing very well. he still has the fever (99-102), and his white blood count is 23,500, which is 1,500 less than a few days ago. he vomits up almost everything. he is asleep nearly 24 hours a day, even through physical therapy. his legs and feet both don't move at all now... and that is very scary. i can't imagine how hard it will be to walk again after 15+ weeks in the hospital and still weighing nearly 600 pounds. he got weighed again today and it said 617lbs, but it is different everytime we weigh him, so we think the scale is bouncing around a bit. so we will not know a definite weight on him until he can stand onto a scale without support, but at least the pharmacists have an idea of his weight for his medications. the doctor said last week that he thinks jeremy has a staph infection (which some can be deadly), but yesterday the nurse said that his blood cultures came back negative. i asked the doctor and he said that the tests were negative, but last night muscarella said they were positive. we keep bugging muscarella for answers and i think he is getting annoyed at us, but no one seems to be on the same page at all. i don't want to upset him or anything, but jeremy means so much to me and if anyone can figure stuff out, it's muscarella. he has helped jeremy through so much, i know he can get him through this, too. during the scope last week they found a small ulcer and he is now getting medications for it. yesterday morning the nurse said it was bleeding when he vomited. i'm assuming it was just irritated when he threw up, because there was no blood later yesterday when he threw up again. muscarella said the ulcer wasn't that bad, so i'm hoping the medication will help get rid of it soon. he has an ng tube down his nose now feeding him, because his nutritional levels were horrible. they wanted to put a line in his shoulder yesterday, so his antibiotics can get in his system better, but they were unsuccessful. he got poked a lot of times, but they said his clavical was in the way and a doppler probably won't help either. so they are sticking to iv anitbiotics, which is okay because another line means another possible source for infections. i think his bed sores are infected, because they are discolored and have a horrible odor. since he is getting nutrition now, i'm hoping that by next week they will start to heal and look better. i just want him to get better and go home. i feel like the longer we stay here, the more and more problems he will develop. i seriously pray this is the last set-back. he deserves to go home, lose weight, and have a very long, healthy, happy life. all i know is his white blood count came down just a little bit, so maybe there is hope that the antibiotics are starting to work. he is so precious and for those of you who have never met him, you will understand how special he is when you do. we are going to make it through this. keep sending prayers, please. he is still here and it's so wonderful to see a smile on his face when i tell him how many people are here for him. thank you all.
love,
