Martha, best of luck with your surgery. Some people have reported success with using the post-op diet during the weeks leading up to surgery. Find a protein shake you like and drink at least 2 a day. Limit your carbs to vegies and fruit - no pasta, rice or bread. Hopefully, this will help you to get some of the weight off pre-op which is much healthier.

Hi Martha! Isn't it so cool when God just does things that are so CLEAR in the moment rather than hindsight?! Good for you! Enjoy your new workout facility! IT'S A GOOD LIFE!

Martha, congratulations on your upcoming surgery. I read your profile and really enjoyed it, you really captured well what it feels like to be obese. Good luck with your preparation in the next couple of months or so. And good for you for getting back on the treadmill -- I found exercise invaluable for getting me ready for surgery, for my post-surgical recovery, and for how good I feel now at seven months out. Please keep posting and letting everybody know how you're doing!

Martha, Thanks for the reminder to post to surgery pages. I'm really bad about doing it. I read every day and try to keep up with everyone. I hope your wait for surgery passes quickly, and that you have a speedy recovery. Best of luck!

Martha I pray you have a quick and great recovery.

Hi Martha! Read your post, then your profile, and just wanted to say that we have a bit in common. It's so hard not to get down when you know your surgery date is coming up, but it still seems so far away. And the memorial page, while it is informational, is very depressing. But all you can do is keep your chin up and know that you are doing the right thing for yourself as well as your son. I had the same fears as you, check my profile if you have some time. But here I am, 3 days post-op lap RNY, and while I'm not totally in the clear, I am home, I'm eating tiny portions of pureed goop, and I can't wait to see the pounds fly off. Oh, I paid over $25,000 to get a quick(er) surgery date. My insurance doesn't cover this. But what a helluva Christmas/New Years/early B-day gift, huh?! We refinanced our home at a better interest rate for me to do this. Best wishes to you and your family...

hi martha, you have good questions.. to get the blue color you have to say it IS an update on the person..thats how it shows up on the message board.. and the i d bracelets are because after surgery you have a small pouch and if in an emergency you need to be tubed, they could accidently rupture your stomach if they don't know.. i hope this helped.. best wishes to you..have a great day..:> jeanne lap rny 1-16 03..happy,happy day!!:>
