I got to spend about an hour and a half with Julie in the operating holding area just before she went in for surgery. She was very excited. She and I talked alot and went in with a smile on her face at 7:30 AM. I talked to Dr. Owens when they took Julie to recovery and he told me that she did great except for the epidural not working. I had told her earlier that ifshe had any problems with the morphine making her feel sick to let the nurse know right away, so that they could give her something else. She was changed to the morphine pump when the epidural didn't work, and she got sick from it, so she pushed it again and it made her even more sick, so she let the nurse know and they switched her to the demeral, she said that it was much better and she didn't have that ill feeling anymore. While she was in recovery I spoke with her mom and gave her the information that Dr. Owens gave me. Mom was very concerned, and I did my best to put her at ease. Julie didn't get into her room until about 2:00. When I saw her at 3:30 she really looked good. She was in some pain but was handling everything well. In fact she looked like she wanted to get up and walk around. She felt bad because she kept dozing off, but I told her to not worry about it I would just hang out for awhile while she slept so go ahead and doze. She was in really good spirits and still smiling even through the pain. Her incision looked great and she had the nurse get her a ice pack to ease the pain a little more. I am on my way up to see her now. I will update on her later. Congratulations Julie on your "NEW" Life :)
