Topic: RE: BPD/DS REVERSAL due to severe malabsorption

It has been 8 months since my reversal, and I feel amazing! Best thing I ever did, I was living in hell-that is an understatement-it was a life of crazy-it was not living, I was constantly doing something DS... between, injections, infusions, and 52 pills a day.... I have not gained any unnecessary weight.

If you have a specific question for me, PM me or I will not see it, as I don't check responses on the forums and don't have anything forwarded to my email.

be very careful who you allow to revise you from RNY to DS as there are only a handful of surgeon who can take down the pouch and convert it to a sleeve. The limb lengths are simple to adjust. Simple doesnt imply they should be.

hi there

do you know you limb lengths? It is in your operative report. Be careful shortening your common channel. I assume your common channel is already short since you had it in 2002. A reputable surgeon will not shorten a 100 or less common channel. Best to you

Topic: Revision of original DS Surgery

I am a long-term veteran of bariatric surgery. I had a full DS surgery in 2002. It worked wonderfully for many many years. For about 12 years I didn't vary more than three or four pounds and I was at a very acceptable weight. Then at the end of about 12 years the surgery started to fail or at least to work less effectively. I lost about 100 lb originally. Well yesterday I was 50 lb more than I was at my low after the DS surgery. So I would like to get a revision. For medical reasons too long to set out, I cannot get a resleeve. That leaves as a revision a shortening of the common channel. This would hopefully "renew" my malabsorption and get weight loss going.

However, it will also renew the possibility of metabolic problems, and bring on more loose and smelly stools.

My big fear is that weight loss would be poor. They warn us a 2nd surgery is not like the first. Has anyone had a ds revision like this? Can you describe your results? Any other thoughts?

Topic: RE: Has anyone else had a lap-band revision to an endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty?

Sort of. I had emergency surgery to remove my band and fix the hole it had made in my stomach. My surgeon called it "a modified sleeve". It was larger than other sleeves but gave me some restriction. I lost 80 pounds and kept it off for 10 years but had to work hard at it. The second I got pregnant and didn't diet I went back to my pre-surgery weight and have stayed there.

As someone told me lately, everyone deserves the chance to fly!

I had a band too but didn't have the success you did. My band was placed nov 2008 but was removed 5 months later and I almost died in the process.

It seems crazy that you're gaining weight and only having that amount of calories but I know sometimes things fluctuate. Try not to get discouraged or worry about it yet.

Topic: RE: Had my Apollo Overstitch revision.....

I am planning to have the Overstitch procedure @ TLC w/Yu. Can you share some more details about how you are doing, were you in pain long, what is your total loss, how long did it take for you to return to work? I am a little skittish but must turn things back around after sleeve.
