Center for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Plastic Surgery Center

If you are contemplating skin removal surgery and live in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area, Dr. David Hing at the Center for Plastic and Reconstructive surgery is , bar none, the best surgeon you will find. Read on for my experience.
After losing 210 lbs, I had a great deal of excess skin. Dr. Hing was recommended to me by a couple of my other doctors. I did my research and found him to be a top surgeon in body contouring. I also saw that he was board certified, which was important to me. So I made may appointment with some apprehension. Dr. Hing immediately put me at ease. He was professional, caring, gentle, and extremely kind. In fact, throughout my experience, I found him to have the best "bedside manner" of any doctor I had ever had. His expertise was clearly evident. He explained everything to me in a way I could understand. He drew diagrams and pictures of the procedures and clearly explained benefits and risks. He did not pressure me. He listened to me intently. The nature of this kind of surgery requires the doctor to examine more personal areas of the body. But Dr. Hing was so professional and sensitive to my needs that this was not at all traumatic. He spent all kinds of time answering my questions and making sure I had all the information I needed. I never felt rushed, which was amazing to me! His entire staff was caring and helpful.
I moved forward with abdominoplasty (stomach skin removal) and brachioplasty (skin removal from my upper arms) in January of 2014. I was thrilled with the results so I moved forward with a lower body lift and vertical resection of my thighs in January of 2015. The care I received from Dr. Hing and his staff was amazing. I am beyond thrilled with the outcome and would go through it all again in a heartbeat. It made a huge difference in how my clothes look and fit, and how I feel about myself. I feel "normal" for the first time. I was also pleased that all fees were accurately given to me up front. I knew exactly what my insurance would cover and what my responsibilities were. There were no surprises after surgery.
I highly recommend Dr. Hing for those contemplating plastic surgery. He is an expert surgeon and I was so impressed with his knowledge base and his participation in ongoing training in his field. But even more important, I was impressed with the kind of person he is. To say he went an extra mile for me on several occasions is a gross understatement. I would, without reservation, trust Dr. Hing for future surgery not only for me, but for those I love the most.

Dr. Hing is extremely pleasant, professional and patient with all questions--even from family members. He is so kind and concerned with his patients and their progress...never a rushed appointment! His staff is awesome! I am looking forward to spring/summer to show off my "new" arms and flat stomach! If I ever get brave enough for a thigh or lower body lift, he'll be the man for the job!

Dr Hing and his staff are the best. They explain things to you so well. Also if you forget and call they never make you feel stupid for asking anything again. Dr Hing is a true Skin artest if in the future I do decide to get breast(if I win the lottery) inplants I will for sure be seeing Dr Hing. With Dr Hing you can choose one of the 2 Hosp he works out of, that was great for my family and myself.

I am the happiest size 6 camper in the world!
I am officially 34 days post tummy tuck with vertical extension, after having undergone gastric bypass 7/10/07, and losing 151 pounds.
From the moment I met Dr. Hing and his staff, I felt like...wow, these people don't just see hanging skin, they see potential... for body contouring. Dr. Hing took a great deal of time on the first consultation to explain what body contouring is, and isn't.
I felt that I had very realistic expectations going into the surgery, 3/16/09, and I was more than delighted to see the firm, tight tummy I had really never seen before. On the day of surgery, he had had quite a heavy schedule, yet when it came time for me, he took the time to answer any last minute questions, and focus on me. Dr. Hing's office staff are a compliment to him. They have painstakingly been patient with me from questions about dealing with my insurance company, to how long do I have to wear this compression garment, to how would I know if I needed to come to the office for a possible seroma, to "Hang on...I'm keeping my follow-up appointment, I just took the wrong turn, but I'll be there in like 5 minutes!" :)
Aftercare...important. This is a great time to make sure everything is going well, and to get some affirmation that whatever you are experiencing is within normal limits...the staff excel at answering questions and offering potential solutions to common issues...like where to pin the P&J drains, and what garment (flexese) to replace the uncomfortable compression straight jacket :)
Overall, this has been a very positive experience...and at day 32 of recovery, I can say it's a bit like childbearing...you kinda forget how you felt about the physical pain right in the beginning, once you see the end result.
There is nothing negative to say folks...Dr. Hing and his staff ROCK!
I don't know if Dr. Hing reads these...but Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I had gastric bypass surgery 7 years ago and have kept my weight off. I finally mada a decision to have a tummy tuck to get rid of the excess skin and fat. I had my surgery performed by a different surgeon and unfortunatley developed complications that he could not correct. I then started to seek 2nd and 3rd opinions and was referred to Dr. Hing. What an amazing, talented, caring, sensitive and knowledgeable man. He did not hesitate to help me and to correct the complications that arose from the other surgeon. He even volunteered to do my 2nd surgery on his day off. He is one dedicated surgeon. My results were unbelievable. My only regret through my 3month ordeal was not going to Dr. Hing to begin with.
His assistant Heidi is also very sensitive, knowledgable and dedicated to her work. They make a great team!!!!!!

Dr. Hing was one of the best doctors that I have ever been to. He took as much time with me as I needed to explain things thorughly so that I understood everything. I have had him do several procedures since my weight loss and he has changed my life. His work is perfection and he is there for you every step of the way.

I lost over 180lbs following my gastric bypass surgery 2 years ago and when it was time to get the excess skin removed, I asked my nurse colleagues (I am a Nurse Practitioner) who they would recommend to do my surgery. I specifically asked the nurses who work in the OR with the plastic surgeons. Every single one of them recommended Dr. Hing as their first choice. I have to say that they were absolutely right. I am just 16 days post-op from having an extended abdominoplasty and bilateral brachioplasty and I couldn't be happier with the results. I have had minimal pain, no complications and my recovery is going very well. I got the last two drains removed yesterday and the stitches out and I feel like a new person. Dr. Hing gave me a waist! I've never had a waist in all my life!
I found Dr. Hing and Heidi (his RN first assist) to be very helpful, reassuring and exceptionally easy to talk to. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Hing and his office.

I couldn't have asked for a better surgical experience. Dr Hing, and his entire staff, are the definition of professionalism. All of my questions and phone calls were answered promplty and thoroughly. I cannot thank them enough for their excellent work to make my tummy tuck a success.
