Dr Jawad has been a WONDERFUL caring physician. He started out that way and has only improved in my opinion. The staff has been supportive and kind always going the extra mile to assist and help with questions I have. Their aftercare is thourough and consistent. Dr. Jawad went thru the entire procedure with emphasis on the possible risks. He has good bedside manner as does his staff (as well as the hospital staff....they were ALL WONDERFUL!). Out of a possible 10....He and his staff rate an 11!!!!

I think Dr. Jawad is a very caring when it comes to his patients. He is very to the point but can have a touch of humor. His office staff is out of this world, they are the best! Sylvia Wallace MSN, ARNP-BC,that is one of the best if not the best I have ever meant. The only think I like least about Dr. Jawad is this, why can't he move to Jacksonville? Dr. Jawad wants his patients to understand that gastric bypass is a Life Time change in your self and you have to be commited to make the changes to improve your health or the surgery will not work! You have to walk you have to follow instructions and make the effort! A lot, you will see him often. Yes, he and Sylvia explain the risks. My overall rating of Dr. Jawad & staff is A++++ in all areas, but in #1 spot Surgical Competence!!!
I know this as my husband was a patient of his Oct 2003 and now I will be on Aug 24th 2004!

I met with Dr. Jawad and am extremly happy with my choice in surgeons. He made me feel very confident about his surgical abilities and straight forward about his statistics. I have every confidence in Dr. Jawad and his nurse Sheila. The office staff is wonderful and very helpful.

Not enough contact with surgeon to form an opinion.

I was impressed. As time went on i really began to like him. His staff was wonderfull. They went out of their way for me. They were very friendly and were there to comfort me when i saw the before weight. I thought he was cold at first. I was afraid. But when i went to the second meeting with him he was stern with me. The third time i went to him he was all smiles because i did take what he told me serious and he was proud of me. I think that he is the best. He is one of the top surgeons in the us. He really went into full detail of what i needed to do after surgery. He told us that we need to do and that we had to follow his intructions to make this work. Yes. He went into full detail of all the risk. He told us that we need to walk as soon as we can after surgery to prevent any problems. I would rate him the best. They were both great.

Dr. Jawad is a very quiet understated man.He does not push and he tells you exactly what you are in for.He is absolutely fabulous with the lap assisted Roux-N-Y and has done well over 1,000 of them. His staff is very nice, sensitive, and effective when it comes to dealing w insurances. His office does all of the paperwork once you are reffered to him. They also have a nutritionist in the office and nurse practitioners for both before and after surgery. Dr. Jawad makes it very clear that this is only a weightloss tool, albeit an extremely powerful one, and stresses aftercare. He has scheduled meetings, support programs and medical office visits. His surgical competence is beyond reproach and that is coming from the RN in me! His bedside manner is quiet, kind, almost a bit shy, but you get used to it quickly. My surgery was on monday morning and it was the open Roux-N-Y, thanks to my lovely insurance!!! I was up and walking that same day and went home on wednesday afternoon. I walk at home and am on a full liquie diet already without any problems. It does hurt to move though, let me not make light of that. Boy does it hurt! The Hospital is another story alltogether. When I arrived there on monday at 05:30 to have my blod drawn for a type and cross as the last thing for the surgery at 07:00, the two goofballs in administration actually put the wrong armband on me and proceded to register me as a different patient! I kept telling them my blood needed to be drawn before the surgery at 07:00, but by 06:00 it had not been drwan. They kept talking about chocolate powder in their coffee from the cafeteria and how great it tasted to each other while they sipped it in front of all of us who had not had anything for dinner or breakfast!!! Well finally my blood was drawn, but you guessed it, under the wrong name. I sat until 07:30 being ignored, when the one woman called me by the wroing name and I stated rather loudly that I was HENDERSON, JACQUIE and not this other person. I then looked at my armband and realized what had happened. Any hospital or my worst nightmare! I wanted to go back to lab to have the mistake corrected both for my sake and the other person's sake.I was told There was no time and I needed to proceed to surgery immediately as I was on the surgery board as a no show. I went to surgery and explained everything to the preop RN,my anesthesiologist. I insisted my blood be redrawn and type and crossmatched and the same for the other patient. My surgeon did not start surgery until all information had come back correct. Ocalla Regional acted very nonchalantly and offered my husband a breakfast and a lunch ticket. No administrator ever came to appologize or inquire during my entire 3 day stay there. Unbelievable really, except that it happened to me and I will swear to it!!!! The post surgical floor has mostly single rooms for Dr. Jawad's patients and the staff is quite nice. But administration needs to tighten up considerably before someone is killed!

I just got approved for my surgery and have not yet personally met Dr. Jawad. I have had great dealings with the office especially Necia!! The office was very helpful in getting my package together for Tricare and we got approved on the first time in only 5 days!!!!

I was impressed, he has a great reputation. He was very professional and positive. My husband had concerns about the surgery but after speaking with Dr. Jawad, he was reassured.
Office staff leaves much to be desired. I was rarely able to speak with anyone when I called, had to leave voice message. Rarely had calls been returned within 48 hours. At least that was the case before office staff changes and pre-authorization approval. Things seem to be smoother for me now.
I am told he has a structured after care program and claims you are his "patient for life". I can't speak to that yet, but living in the same town as he practices, I have never heard anything but rave reviews about him.
