I had my first visit 12-20-02. I really was impressed with Dr. Ihde. He was very down to earth and explained the surgery completely,as well as the risk that go along with WLS, He talked about the eating program and how important exercise is to making it work.. He took time with me and answered all my questions.. I am very happy with my chose of surgeons,,I believe he is working on a support group and that will be awesome.. He's in his new office in Lancaster Tx.. I would rate Dr. Ihde so far a 10..
1-24-03 After getting to know Dr. Ihde better.. I trust him completely , and his rating is off the charts,, Thank you Dr. Ihde..
My first impression of Dr. Inhde was good. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about all aspect's and were able to answer any question I had. I had very little pain from my open surgery and was able to go on the truck (he's an over the road 18 wheeler truck driver) with my husband 2 weeks after surgery. I haven't had any complications what-so-ever. I recommend Dr. Idhe highly.
Dr.Ihde is GREAT!!!! very confident, very personable, and you get the feeling that he really cares about your health and that he will take care of you. I first saw him a month ago and I am approved and already have my tests done and my surgery scheduled for next month. He is in a new office and I didn't have to wait at all to see him, my appointment was set for the next week after my call. He is very approachable and only has 1 staff member, Kim, she is great too. Everyone is so nice in his office. He doesn't have an aftercare program, but he takes the time to prepare you for life after surgery, so you go into this surgery with both eyes wide open. He is very upfront about the risks of the surgery and the risks of not having it, and doesn't pressure you either way. I like him he seems very competent and very warm and caring. He is the 4th surgeon I have seen about this and was a last resort when I found him. I only wish I had found him FIRST!!! I can't really think of anything negative to say other than no aftercare program but I wasn't too keen on an aftercare program in the first place. That may change after surgery.
Dr. Ihde was VERY informative. He held back nothing. He told us everything! (The great points of the surgery all the way to the very lowest depths of having the surgery done.) He addressed the complications that could come from this but also the great outcome that comes with having this procedure done.
I found him to be very knowledgeable, very sincere with the way he talks to his patients.
What I like best about Dr. Ihde, is the fact that he didn't seemed rushed or pressed for time. He was very patient. He answered questions that I had already asked him over and over without getting frustrated. He realizes that this is a very serious decision that I was about to make and acknowledged my hesitations.
On a scale from 1-10, I would give my first visit with Dr. Ihde an 10!
His office staff was wonderful also. They didn't make you feel just like another "patient." They made you feel like a person with feelings. They made me laugh and seemed very down to earth.
I feel with Dr. Ihde that I will be in the best of hands. I feel God has blessed him with the capability to learn and practice this life altering technique and pray that God will guide his hands in a million more surgeries to come. To all of you out there that are thinking about having this surgery done...LET'S DO IT!!! If you get a chance to have DR. Ihde change your life forever...Good Luck.
I am sorry to say Dr. Ihde is no longer at Bariatric Treatment Center in Wylie Texas. Dr. Ihde sat down with both my husband and I,he made us feel comfortable and I was impressed with his appearance and how he answered all of our questions. His staff sat down with me and told me all about the surgery and what I can expect. Dr. Ihde was with me along with his staff when I came out of surgery. They encouraged me and made me feel like I had just conquered the world. They all sat down with me and talked with me about my care at home. My prep nurse talked with me about the risks about surgery as well as Dr. Ihde and I was aware of what might happen. If the other surgeons are like Dr. Ihde and his professionalism at the Bariatric Treatment Center I would give them a rating of 10.
I did not really experience anything negative that I can remember other than it was freezing in my room. It was kind of tough at first to get up and walk. I wished that the nutritionist could have spent more time talking about the eating program however I left with a 3ring notebook with everything that I needed to know and number where I could reach them. I sort of felt lost at first. I wish I had a support network or support group before I went into surgery and after and not a year later.
My surgeon was Dr. Ihde from the Bariactric specialist of Texas hospital in Wylie Texas. He was awesome. I had no problems post op for two reasons. I did my research and choose a hospital and surgeon with a terrific repretation and I was mentally ready. You need to accept that this is a major operation and you will be sore for a short period of time. There are guidelines that need to be followed . I am 10 weeks post op and feel terrific. The main reason I choose this surgery in addition to weight lost was to cure my acid reflux. I had it everyday for 12 years. I am so thankful to Dr.Ihde and his staff for this relief. I have not had any acid reflux since surgery. A special thanks to Nida, Dr.Ihde's nurse. She was available to answer all my questions and concerns after surgery. I still call her when I feel something different with my body or just for encouragement when I hit that plateau. Good luck to all who are going thru this surgery and to my friend Sherry who is scheduled August 23rd.
DR. IDHE WAS FANTASTIC! HE WAS VERY KNOWLEGABLE AND ABLE TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS I THREW AT HIM IN A WAY MYSELF AND FAMILY UNDERSTOOD. NOTHING CHANGED OVER TIME EXCEPT THAT I REALIZED HOW LUCKY I WAS TO HAVE GOTTEN HIM AS MY OWN PERSONAL PHYSICIAN FOR THIS SURGERY. DR. IDHE WAS VERY LAID BACK AND TOOK ALL THE TIME I NEEDED FOR TALKING OR EXPLAINING WHAT I HAD QUESTIONS ON AT THE TIME. HE ALSO ENCOURAGED ME TO FOLLOW MY OWN AFTERCARE PROGRAM AND NOT TO COMPARE MYSELF TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS WHO HAVE ALSO HAD HE SURGERY FOR MY EXPECTED PROGRESS AND WEIGHT LOSS. HIS BEDSIDE MANNER WAS EXCELLENT AND HE TOOK TIME TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS OR CONSERNS THAT MY FAMILY EXPRESSED. BEING A NURSE MYSELF I HAD A GREAT DEAL OF CONFIDENCE IN DR. IDHE AND HIS PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE WITH MY SURGERY. I HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THE OFFICE STAFF AND THE HOSPITAL STAFF WAS FAR BETTER THAN ANY I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. THEY WERE ALL FANTASTIC TO NOT ONLY ME BUT MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS!
Dr. Ihde was very understanding. He listened to all of my concerns and addressed all of them. He took his time and didn't rush us out of the office. The office staff is great and I would recommend them to anyone.
Dr. Ihde is with The Bariatric Treatment Center in Dallas, Tx. He strongly stresses the importance of exercise and walking after surgery. He gives his patients a recipe book and a shopping list for you to shop by after surgery. He went over the whole surgery from Pre-Op to Post-Op and any complications that could occur.
SURGERY & POST-OP: Dr. Ihde is an Angel. He is the nicest, most caring Dr. I have ever met. He truly cares about his patients and makes sure they are comforable. I would recommend BTC and Dr. Ihde to anyone. I drive 6 hours to get to them and I wouldn't change a thing.
JUNE 25, 2002: Well I found out some upsetting news today. Dr. Ihde has left BTC. With no notice to his patients, he is gone. I called there today to leave a message for him and was informed that he no longer worked at BTC.
My husbands surgery that was scheduled for July 29, 2002 has been cancelled. He is so upset and now here we are in a time crunch trying to find another doctor.
I still liked him very much and wish him well, but I feel his patients should have been informed. I know it is difficult as I work in the Healthcare field myself, but it is possible. Just mailing a notice would have been nice.
My first impression was YOUNG!!! He was very brief in his explination of what takes place but answered all my questions with ease. My impression did change once I was at the hospital. He was in there several times checking on me and making sure all my questions were answered. His staff, well I couldn't have asked for better. Future patitients should know that even though he is a younger man, he knows what he is doing and is good at it, this is all he does!!! He is very serious when it comes to aftercare, everyone at BTC is, they are constantly stressing to you how important it is. He is not afraid to tell you like it is when it comes to risks. He wants you to be very aware of what could happen and make sure that this is right for you. I would say that overall he is a very good surgeon who still takes the time to care about the person. He seems very sincere and takes pride in his work.
