AdventHealth Med Group Bariatrics at Tampa Organization

When he first walked in he was all business. He was upfront without me asking about the complications and his track record. I was able to get him laugh and I really liked that. I got to see that he was human. Alot of doctors that I have dealt with don't seem to like to show their personality, but with Dr. Dietrick I was able to pull it out. I needed to see that.
The staff was GREAT! I couldn't have asked for anything better.
They have a wonderful aftercare program. It was really stressed to me the importance of one. They have their own aftercare program that you must pay for. It is $1,850.00, a small price to pay for the information that will be available after the surgery.
I will update more after the surgery.

My first impression of Dr. Murr was very good. He was personable and professional and answered all of my questions. His office staff is also very curtious. So far, my experience with Dr. Murr and his staff has been all positive. I chose Dr. Murr because his support group and aftercare program are exceptional.

There is nothing bad I can say about Dr. Murr. He is excellent and very helpful. The most important issue is he takes everything seriously! He will run every test possible to confirm the patient is fine and will listen to your complaints without judgement. I whole heartedly recommend him.

Doctor Murr was selected for me by my Nephrologists. I had to have a 35 year old WLS "taken down" as it was causing me some very serious complications. We went to Dr. Murr because he was so highly recommended as someone who could take on my difficult surgery. They were right. My surgery was over 6 hours long and my hospital stay 11 days, 5 in intensive care. On my first visit with him, he reviewed my records and said the magic words, "I think I can help you"! He was direct, no fills, told me the dangers ahead for me but reassured me that he could help. I had not considered RNY at that point along with the "take down" but as he explained it would be the best thing to do. He called it a "revision". I went home and started research on the RNY as I knew nothing about it. That's how I found this site.
I was confident that I was in good hands and looked forward to ending my kidney problem that existed because of the old surgery. My hospital stay was 11 days, 5 of which were in intensive care. They were very cautious of my kidney condition. I only have one and they are trying to save it. Because I had so much work done they were also doubly cautious. Dr. Murr has assembled a wonderful staff and have good kidney doctors also attending me. The staff on the 8th floor of TGH treat you like royalty! The nurses are the best I have ever had. They truly like the patients, their jobs, and each other. Each one kinder and more companionate than the next. Yes, I am saying a lot, but they made such an impression on me. I am for ever grateful.
I had a wonderful private room and when out of intensive care (and I was in during a hurricane, too) I was able to have someone stay all night with me. If it is possible for you to do this, I highly recommend it. Having someone there to walk you in the middle of the night or keep you company is you can't sleep is great. My husband was there all day and a friend all night. This was a luxury!
I went home with 1 drain tube and a feeding tube. I was fed through the tube for 2 weeks, then onto pureed food. I also have HHC Nurses twice a day at home to change my dressing as I went home with a partially open incision. I'm down to once a day now, and that should end this week.
Three weeks after discharge I met the Doctors assistant who removed the drain and feeding tube and gave me the scoop on what they did in surgery and what I should be doing for the next 4 months until my next visit. He also gave me instructions to have periodic lab work done and to be sent to Dr. Murr. If there is a problem, they would schedule an appointment.
As you can see my experience has been good with little complication (fingers crossed). I would suggest this Doctor and Hospital to everyone...but mostly to people that have a higher risk or big complications...Dr. Murr has golden hands. I can never thank him enough, and I thank him in my prayers often.

Wow, here is my first step, I registered lastnight, already have my first letter of prayer from Meggieangel. Thank you!
Rolling out of bed this morning, after having dreams all night long about being thin
I called a Dr, his name is Barry Haicken, the woman I spoke with was very informative, suggested we call UHC, to get the ball rolling with pre approval.
End of the line, I called my insurance company and my company chose NOT to cover RNY. :o(

07-12-04 There is light at the end of the tunnel. I married my long time boyfriend, who has UHC Select POS, and his company covers the procedure!

10-15-04 I have a date with the surgeon. All the pre-op is pretty well done, and I have quit smoking too, since Dr. Murr will not operate on you if you smoke
My consult is 10-25-04

My first impression of Dr. Dietrick was that he took his job very seriously. He was kind and honest about the procedure. The WISH center staff was great very friendly. The follow up care has been wonderful, they are quick to answer any questions via email or phone.
Overall I would send anyone I know to the wish center.. They are the greatest.

I meet Dr. Murr and he was just like I was told he would be. He was very friendly and straigt forward with the bad and the good. I am glad he will be the one to do my surgery. The staff was out standing and my appointment was on time.

I THINK HE IS JUST GRAND, OFFICE STAFF VERY CONSIDERATE,HE TOLD ME ALL THE RISK INVOLVED,LOOKING FORWARD TO THE SURGERY AND HAVE JOINED A HOSPITIAL GYM AND HAVE BEEN WORKING OUT FOR 2 WEEKS AND FEEL GOOD ABOUT THE WHOLE IDEA.HE WAS GOOD TO LOOK AT AND UNDERSTOOD HIM WHICH CANT BE SAID ABOUT ALL DOCTORS...

My impression of Dr. Murr is good. I am very impressed with his succes in this type of surgery. He generally seems to care about his patients as well. The only thing that bothers me slightly is with his success, his practice has grown to the point that he actually has teams. For example I was operated on by the blue team. Dr. Murr did my surgery, but I saw him twice. Once for my pre-op appointment and then again 2 days after my surgery. The members of his team who followed up on my care while in the hospital, I had never seen pre-op nor heard of and I would have liked to have had that all explained to me before hand. On surgery day, it made me a little nervous, not seeing him before surgery because I felt, "Okay, is he really here? Is he really the one that is going to do this?" That little bit of reassurance would have went a long way that day! I just wish he was a little more attainable.

he is a great surgeon, did a great job on me.he's very nice and very professional and has cold hands and warm heart.he's is a nice looking gentleman to.wish him lots of luck in his futher in all his wls surgery and would recogmend him to all in need of his experteases.
