AdventHealth Med Group Bariatrics at Tampa Organization

My first impression of Dr. Murr was that he was highly competant and very busy. He spent about 10 minutes with me on our initial visit. I had researched him on the internet, as well as consulted with collegues who know him and respect him and his work, so I felt comfortable with his direct manner. I saw him once on the day of surgery. I awoke in my hospital room after surgery,(at least, I think it was my room), and he was standing there, just looking at me. He never said a word. I closed my eyes, and when I reopened them, he was gone. Since he operates at a teaching hospital, Tampa General, I was aware that much of my care would come directly from his staff, including Jose, his physician assistant, resident physicians and fellows, all acting under Dr. Murr's guidance. All of these medical personnel are following orders directly given by Dr. Murr.
His staff is efficient and friendly.
Dr. Murr's aftercare program is basically the support group, which meets once monthly, and is free of charge. He also encourages follow up meetings with the staff nutritionist, who can be reached at any time.
The risks of surgery were explained both verbally, and in writing, and reviewed at the new patient orientation, the support group, on the inital office visit, on the day of preops, and on the day of surgery.

Dr. Murr has an excellent reputation in Tampa. I personally knew several people who had their surgeries done by him, so they were an inspiration to me as I waited to have mine done. He did an excellent job on me. I have had no complications. I consider myself to be very blessed.
His office is very busy, and it is hard to get calls returned sometimes, but if you are persistent, it will pay off. His office manager, Martha, seems to do the work of about three people, but when you finally do get her, she is very nice and helpful.
Dr. Murr has a support group that meets once a month at Tampa General Hospital for people who are contemplating surgery, waitint for approval and who have already had theirs done.

Dr Murr was very sympathetic and understanding. It stayed the same through out the whole experience. The staff is wonderful, Martha who is over worked is still very polite and helpful to everyone. Murr made sure I understood the risk factors. I would highly recommend him to anyone!

My first impression of Dr. Murr was how cute is he. Then, I was so impressed with how he treated me with so much respect, unlike many doctors do. I liked him from the first time I talked with him. My rate of Dr. Murr's office and staff is top notch that is what they are a bunch a classy people. I thank them from the bottom of my heart.

i havenot seen drmurr as of yet i have an appointment with him in march.

I would not recommend Dr Murr to my worst enemy and his assistant Martha is the biggest bitch I have ever met!! Dr. Murr never showed up before my surgery and I did not see him until 3 day's later. He must of been a butcher to pay his way through medical school. I just thank god that I am still alive and had no complications because if it was up to the nurses they would of just left me there to die.

my surgeon sucked I just thank god I am alive. He did not show up before my surgery and I did not see him until 3 day's later he never went to the waiting room to tell my husband I was ok either. My scar is huge he must of been a butcher while he paid his way through medical school. I would not recommend his to my worst enemy!!!

MY FIRST IMPRESSION WAS THAT HE WAS A VERY THOROUGH DOCTOR. IT HAS ALSO TAKEN ME SOME TIME TO GET TO SEE THIS DOCTOR. I STARTED RESEARCHING THIS SURGERY SINCE SEPT. 2001. I DIDEN'T GET AN APPT WITH THE DOCTOR TILL MARCH OF 2002. THEN I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL DECEMBER 2002 TO SEE HIM AGAIN AND THEN HE SUGGESTED I GET A SECOND OPINION FROM A HEART DOCTOR BECAUSE OF MY STRESS TEST I HAD TAKEN IN AUGUST 2002. I HAD THAT APPT JAN. 2003. I HAD ALL MY OTHER TESTING DONE SO NOW I HAVE AN APPT. WITH MY 2ND CARDIOLOGIST ON FEB 25. HE WANTS ME TO HAVE A CATHERIZATION, SO I HAVE TO WAIT TILL I SEE HIM TO SCHEDULE THAT TEST. SO YOU SEE I HAVE QUITE DETERMINATION BECAUSE I HAVE REALLY WAITED A LONG TIME FOR THIS. WE REALLY DID NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING ELSE UNTIL HE SEES THE RESULTS OF THAT TEST. I HOPE I WON'T HAVE TO WAIT TOO LONG I AM GETTING ALITTLE DISCOURAGED. AFTER ALL I AM NOT GETTING ANY YOUNGER. I WILL BE 55 IN APRIL, SO IT'S IMPERATIVE I HAVE THIS DONE ASAP.

i thought dr murr was absolutley wonderful. it did take quite a while for my first apt (7 mths) but he and the staff were great. i did notice that i had a problem w/them getting faxes from consults but once this was resolved everything was wonderful. the surgery went very well....and the horror stories i had heard about the hospital staff completely untrue. the only drawback was that dr murr has quite a few residents working w/him so on subsequent visits i did not get the chance to see him....i had heard that his bedside manner was not so great but actually the day of my 1st post op visit he was leaving early because he had hurt his back the day before and although you could see he was in bovious pain he made a point to stop me on his way out and comment on how much better i looked and how glad he was to see me. i honestly can't say enough good about him
