Yale-New Haven Hospital Hospital
Yale just rocks! Anyone considering where to go would be very well served to choose this hospital. They are clearly one of the best in the country, as far as quality of staff. But I also loved how attentive they are to the patient's family and visitors. They have cheap valet parking, a world-class and reasonably priced cafeteria, a beautiful atrium with a rainbow-inducing fountain and lots of comfortable seating. But most unbelieveable to me and my family was the free snacks and light-classical musician to entertain the families in the ICU waiting room. Yale is just a class act all around, and I am thrilled to recommend it based on my experience.
Hospital is very clean, most staff was very caring and well informed. Some of the interns needed to move a bit more quickly for help with some pain remedies, but other than that, the nurses, PCA's, etc. were all very sensitive to my needs and were very willing to help in any way possible.
I would definately stay there again if needed, and I would recommend it to someone who lived locally (I am 1 hour away).
I was pleased overall with my stay. I personally did not care for the nurse in the recovery room who I felt shunned me during my brief stay. On occasion, it did take the nurses on my floor some time to respond to me. Once I needed some assistance getting up from the bed to use the restroom (my lower back was in spasm). I called the nurse for assistance and explained my situation to her. She never came. My roommate had to verbally coach me to get me out of bed before I had an accident. Finally when I got up and used the restroom, I went out to the nurse's station to get my breakfast out of the refrigerator. The nurse got up from her station and asked me if I still needed her!
The hospital is beautiful when you first walk in. It is a teaching hospital I think that is good. As far as the cleaning of the rooms it was terrible where I was for 5 days they did not pass a mop or sweep the floors or empty the garbage in the bathroom for 5 days. Needless to say I was glad to get out of there. You would think a hospital would be more clean. I did fill out the survey with the hospital about how NOT clean my room was.
