I had a bad experience with the nursing staff. However this does not reflect my feelings about Dr. Nguyen. My doctor was excellent....he just needs some better nurses behind him in the aftercare portion of his team.

The staff was great, accommodating, friendly, and understanding. I do think that dietary needs to change their broth. Nobody should have to look into a 30cc cup and see more semi-solid chicken fat than actual liquid. The beef broth was much better looking and tasting.

He was highly recommended by one of his patients, and based on her recommendations and further research I chose him as my surgeon.

He is a great doctor who really has the best interest of all his patients .

I just became more trusting of him with each office visit.

His office staff is outstanding. Very personable and caring.
Nothing.

You will be confident you have chosen the right doctor.

Very stongly
Strong aftercare program and great support group once a month. His staff is also there always if you have any question. He is the head of the entire department at UCI. That should say something about him

I would rate him as priceless.
Both are important and Dr. Nguyen has them both and more.

first impression of Dr. Ninh Nguyen, was promptly that he was the most handsome Asain man I have ever seen! His demeanor was professional and to the point and friendly. The office staff is professional and skilled at what they do. The only complaint I have is the [sometimes] long wait in the reception. May I suggest that future patients "NOT" visit Dr. Nguyen expecting to be "fixed"; there is much work for us to do post surgery, both physically and behaviorally. The after care is essential...it would seem a waste to avoid aftercare...and Dr. Nguyen has appointments and monthly support groups. There has been a higher succes rate amongst those who regualrly attend support groups on this topic. The risks of the surgery were addressed "Head-on", thankfully with the appropriate information to allow informed decisions. Overall I rate my experience w/ Dr. Nguyen VERY high (and, not just because he is so handsome either!!!) Surgical competency is paramount above all other concerns, then the hospital staff and then bedside manner.

dr. ninh and all of his staff that I have met with -- dr. paya (his brilliant right hand man), Anna (his coordinator), Melinda (his research assistant), and Monica, his dietician -- are all very dynamic, and at the top of their profession. Their is a certain energy in their office that exudes confidence and has come to comfort me when I am having second thoughts about all the risks involved. I appreciate the fact that they do not sugar coat anything about the procedure. One thing I like about my visits w/the dr.'s is that they give you 100% of their attention while you are there. There is hardly any waiting time in the lobby at all. The dietician and dr. paya are very kind and want to know about you as a person and your history, medical and otherwise. dr. ninh is quick and to the point, not much room for chit chat, but that is fine by me as all i care about is his competency -- which is obviously tremendous. One thing they demand is for the patient to be a staunch participant in their support group, which are held monthly and i enjoy quite a bit. its a great meeting for people pre or post op. Now that i am post op and my recovery has been speedy and non-problematic, of course I feel that its largely due to the talent of dr. nyugen. he has, i have learned, perfected the laproscopic rny procedure, and i highly recommend him, as do many others looking to have this surgery.

I Saw Dr. Nguyen on 3/10 for my consultation, and I was auth'd for the Lap Band procedure on 3/17. My surgery is scheduled for 3/26 and I did my preops on 3/20. Ana, his surgical coordinator is wonderful.

Dr. Nguyen was great. What I like most about him is that he is a straight shooter. He will not give you the run around or generic answers. He will give your the bottom line answer and I really apprciate that. His bedside manner at the hospital was wonderful. I felt that he really cared about me and my recovery.

The only negative that I can think of is the fact that I didn't feel supported by his staff prior to surgery. I was never informed about what was going to happen next. Everything was last minute (which I hate). I had to push his assistant to get things done and I felt like I was being a nuisance.

Dr. Nguyen is very professional and focused. When I went in to see him he was very to the point and a little quick, it could be misunderstood and unfriendly, but he's just a busy man. Knowing how hard it is to get an appointment, it doesn't bother me. He addressed the risks and talked about the Lap Band and RNY. Asked a LOT of questions. Ana in his office is great, she laid it all on the line and offered a lot of advice. She won't submit for approval unless she's sure she will get one, so she wants a lot of info. She offered me some advice on additional things I could do in the meantime to help my case. The office has moved from the Irvine Campus (which was easier to park and better managed) to the UCI Medical Center Campus. The parking is terrible. He is very competent, but wasn't very forthcoming with information or discussion until I got mad. I am very happy with my surgery, and would choose him again.
