Dr.Mason is a great man.I went to Bryan, Tx for my consultation. He is a great doctor. His staff is wonderful. I met his nurse, who examined me. Then Dr. Mason came in after I talked with her. He saw that I had did alot of research on this surgery. He said that I am a good candidate. We dicussed that I am a bus driver so I wanted to try to have my surgery before school starts. He listened to everything I had to say and then asked me about the type of surgery I wanted. I met with Jamie. She takes care of all the insurance problems. She will be talking directly to the Director of Medcaid and his nurse. He is the 3rd Dr I have been to but he is the first to give me a consultation. Thank you Dr. Mason. Dr. Mason and his staff are ready to help me get my approval. :) I hope I get it soon. I had my surgery 9-15-06. Dr. Mason is so awesome. I am so glad he was my surgeon. I was very impressed with him and his staff. I would recommend everyone to him. the only pain I had was from the drainage tube. When I wasn't feeling too good, he made several visits to make sure I was ok. Thank you DR. MASON. May GOD Bless you. His staff is awesome too. Thank you Cathy and Jaime.

I have attended his siminar and felt he came across as attentive to his clients needs and really stressed aftercare and support. He answered all my questions. His staff was friendly and prompt when I went for my consult, letting me know I could call anytime with questions or concerns. rnrnrnMy preop appointments and surgery were awsome. Dr Mason and his staff are very attentive and positive in their attitudes. I drive 1 1/2 hours one way to see him. He is an excellent surgeon. I cant say enough good things about them.

'I have only met Dr. Mason a couple of times

He was very attentive and concerned. He sounds like he knows what he's talking about and he performed my mother-in-law's surgery as well as another friend of mine. He doesn't schedule surgeries back to back so that he can give you his full attention after your surgery. I feel he is both a competent surgeon and has excellent bedside manner. He performs his surgeries on Monday or Tuesday so that you don't end up in the hospital with weekend nursing staff. He wants to make sure there is sufficient staffing to be there for you in case of complications.

My surgeon is experienced with laprascopic procedures involving gastro intestinal surgeries. He is just beginning the RNY, but has stated that he has essentially performed this type of procedure on his cancer patients. It just hasn't been referred as weight loss surgery. He has had many successful operations over the past 15 yrs, so I am very confident in his skill level. He is still being proctored, and I am among the first group of patients. I feel more confident knowing that the proctoring surgeon will be in the OR during my procedure.

The hospital I'm going to is striving to be a Place of Excellence for bariatric surgery. The nursing staff has received extra training, including sensitivity training. I expect we will be treated with complete respect and compassion.

There is extensive, life-long follow up. There will be monthly support group meeting, a web site for patients who go through their protocol. They welcome other patients as well. Their Rehab center is available for membership to use the exercise facilities at a very reasonable rate. It includes Aqua Therapy. I live too far away from the hospital to go there on a daily basis, so I will not be going, but would if I lived closer.

The nutritionist has been exceptionally great. She gave us very good visual demonstration of the amounts of food, the types of food to eat and not to eat. There was a great deal of time spent on this subject.

There was an initial information meeting where we met the dr. and asked general questions. I (everyone) was required to attend two pre op meetings where things were discussed, such as pre op procedures and post op care. We met most of the nursing staff who will be there and were able to ask questions. We met the Home Health group who will come to your home and see if there are any unsafe conditions or other concerns for the days after surgery and they will make recomendations. We discussed exercising in depth and the importance of it.

They are striving to cover all the basis and provide long term support. I am excited to be in this first group. This is prior to my surgery. I will do follow up after surgery.
