Christiana Institute of Advanced Surgery (CHRIAS) Hospital
I met with Dr. Irgau and can say that he set my mind at ease tremendously. He didn't make me think there was nothing to worry about, but he did address all of my concerns and explained how he was going to do things to try to eliminate as much risk as possible. He took my past medical history into consideration and set me up with a vascular surgeon so that they can eliminate the risk of embolisms. He drew a diagram and showed me what he was actually going to do once inside. He told me what to expect from the surgery and what not to expect. I was very nervous about seeing him, but I can honestly say that he set my mind at ease. His staff was very friendly and very easy to work with. Dr. Irgau came highly recommended by my PCP and I couldn't thank her any more. On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd give him and his office at least a 10. I know the page says to include any negative feedback if you have it, but right now, I honestly don't have any. I'll let you know if that changes.
Dr Irgau is very professional and develops confidence and trust from the beginning. He was very thorough about the surgery, answered all questions, and offered any assistance in the future. My impression did not change from the 1st visit through surgery. His staff is very polite, understanding and helpful in every way. There is nothing that I did not like about Dr Irgau or his staff. I would recommend anyone to Dr Irgau or his partner Dr Wynn. I haven't heard anything, but positive things about both of them. I also know people that know them on a professional level and again have been told they are highly regarded in their field. Dr Irgau greatly emphasize aftercare and the plan to success. He genuinely wants his patients to reach thier goals. The aftercare program is through PMRI and is very structured. The risks of surgery were made very clear on the first visit. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate him a 10. His surgical competence and bedside manner are superior.
I actually have not met Dr Irgau, only because
he is doing my surgery in place of my doctor
because she is going on maternity leave. Dr. Wynn
is my doctor and Dr. Irgau is her partner. I
know a lot of people that have met him and have
had him perform their surgery, and they say nothing
but nice things. But, I would still like to meet
the person that's performing surgery on me. I plan
on doing this before surgery.
Dr. Wynn is a very kind, petite lady who instills confidence. I felt comfortable right away. I understand her partner, Dr. Irgau is terrific too, but I have not met him yet. I believe they work together.
Their staff is wonderful and to their credit they do have a WLS person doing their insurance and comforting our nerves. Marie and the rest of the staff is great!! But because Marie has had the surgery I feel confident in what she tells me.
We have to attend support group meeting and also meet with a dietician pre and post op.
I will keep you posted after my surgery on 3/14. Thanks
My only negative comment was that my original surgery was 2/26 and was cancelled for 2 weeks! due to a bed shortage. This was extremely distressing.
Dr. Wynn made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. She answered all my questions. I knew that this surgery was for me, it was my husband who needed the convincing. My impression kept getting better. Her staff is the greatest. I didn't have to do anything, her staff worked with the insurance company and the hospital. I am so grateful that Dr. Wynn and team has come into my life.
Gail Wynn, M.D. (Wilmington, DE)
My surgeon is Dr. Gail Wynn. My first impression of her was very good. Everyone at my online support group loves her and I can see why. Very supportive of your decission and very upfront about the procedures and your lifestyle changes. She was willing to answer any questions I asked her.

Met with Dr. Wynn yesterday. Was my first consult appointment and I was very impressed. She is very young, soft spoken, and puts you at ease immediately. Dr. Wynn went over the surgical options, all the risks, and the before and after care program that she requires you to go through. She answered all my questions and those of my husband. She wanted to make sure that he was as comfortable with the decision as I was. We never felt rushed or pushed in any way. The office staff was very nice and helpful. I felt that Dr. Wynn was very thorough and compasionate about her work.
My journey begins!!!
My first impression of Dr. Wynn was that she is very professional, compassionate and approachable. I have since learned that she is considered an outstanding surgeon by all of her peers. My impression of her has only been reinforced over time, and if possible, I respect her skill even more, so when she asked me to come work for her I accepted. I know the office staff is as committed as are Drs. Wynn and Irgau to providing compassionate, professional service.
Aftercare is expected of all post operative patients, and is provided in conjuction with the Preventative Medicine and Rehabilitation Institute (PMRI).
Personally, I regard surgical competence as more important, but with regards to Dr. Wynn, both surgical competence and her bedside manner are outstanding. Overall, I rate her an an outstanding surgeon and a remarkable woman! Major surgery is not easy, and I would not willing undergo it again without Dr. Wynn's advice.
Dr G. Wynn seemed to be very professional. She made sure I knew about the procedure (advantages and risks). Everyone in her office at the time were very nice and tried to make me feel very comfortable. I think what I liked least was the waiting for that initial appointment (so many people scheduling and I waited 2 months to be seen). But once the ball started rolling I was well taken care of although I haven't been able to speak with her, since the initial contact, her staff has done a great job so far.
