St. Agnes Hospital Hospital
THE STAFF WAS ABSOLUETLY WONDERFUL. THEY WERE SO PATIENT AND KIND AND CARING. MY TECH CHARNETTE WAS EXCELLENT AND MY NURSES JENNIE, MISSY AND MARY ANN WERE SUPER. I HAD SEVERAL OTHER TECHS BUT I CAN NOT REMEMBER THEIR NAMES BUT THEY WERE AWESOME ALSO. I WOULD RECOMMEND ST. AGNES TO ANYONE. I WAS TREATED LIKE ROYALTY FROM THE PRE OP ROOM TO RECOVERY TO DISCHARGE. I AM COMPLETELY SATISFIED.
I didn't think it was especially clean. No one attended to my personal hygiene. The spirometer that I was supposed to use for breathing exercises was always out of my reach. I was in the step down unit due to my sleep apnea and no one there seemed to know anything about gastric bypass surgery. I think I would have done better on the medical floor. I was sent down for a cardiac test that wasn't actually for me. Luckily, I didn't have the test! I will say that I got great help the night after surgery. I began to panic about the pain and about my trouble moving around in the bed. I also had a fever which made me a little nuts. Two staff people stayed with me and really worked with me to try to make me comfortable and to settle me down. I wouldn't choose this hospital if I had the choice.
In addition to what was stated above, I did not bruise from blood draws, everyone who entered my room used my name (no one called me hon), a nurse answered my call button within seconds, the orderlies who transported me to my barium swallow on post op day 1 were very careful, slow and meticulous to make certain I was comfortable, my pain was well-controlled and my family was very much included every step of the way. The only issue I has was the food - dietary apparently did not completely understand what I could eat and I actually "dumped" on my first meal! Dr. Singh had come in while I was eating and took it away from me - unfortunately, I had already eaten too much. However, the nursing staff stayed at my side until the symptoms passed. One nurse in particular, a student nurse at that, held my hand and was so encouraging! She was a true inspiration to both me and my daughter who both plan to accept employment at St. Agnes after passing our RN boards.
Nurses were wonderful. Room was horrid....semi-private, and that was ok...however, it was directly across from the nurses' station and MAN, were they loud ALL night long!!! And why do they feel it necessary to give you a shot that you could have had at a decent hour, at 11 PM when you've finally fallen asleep despite the din outside the door????
