South Bay Kaiser Hospital
I just met Dr. Zane tonight and he is the most easy going charismatic doctor I've ever met! He made me feel so at ease and explained the different processes and procedures. He listened to what I wanted and gave his input.
I can see why he is the superstar of Bariatrics at Kaiser!!

I had my surgery in 1998, I started off at 303.. I had seen a show with Carnie Wilson one day and I was like I need to get health.. I tried EVERY DIET there was and was not gettting any results.. Once, I seen that show I just knew i was doing this surgery I had mad my mind up. My family was not so agreeding about it.. But they weren't walking around with the weight.. I was working at a hopital in BOSTON MA where I looked up the surgeons and came across Dr. Blackburn, and Dr. Mun.. I met with them and decided IM READY.. Now, I here it takes atleast a year to get the ball rolling.. It took me 4 months I was so excited and thought I would wake up SKINNY.. Be that as it may.. I had the surgery with DR> ED MUN who was just so great.. NOW TEN YEARS later I am 150 pounds.. The smallest I have been is 126 which I look totally crazy.. 150 to some is still heavy but IM HAPPY in my skin.. People really do not know what it is like to be "OBESIE" and I never want to get back there. and I try like hell to stay within my bounderies... FOOD IS STILL MY ADDICTION and will always be. But know I know how to limit..DR. MUN was my saver.. and I recommend it to anyone who is not happy in there skin...
i felt he was up front and honest i wanted to believe him and so i went with the rny instead of a sleeve or a band i bled out after surgery i still dont know why and my diabetes is back so i am back on medication i was told at the hospital it was gone and not to take any meds... well it tested through june and the blood sugar stayed at 80 so i stopped testing and i just got a hgba1c of 11.2 more than before surgery and so i am on lantus and actos to control it well while i thought i was free i hope i didn't have any non reversible damage from being misled i have my 4 month follow up 9-11-09 so i will wait until then to make up my mind of whether or not the doctor led me astray or what the surgeon was very good with me in the hospital and attentive he was caring and concerned about me he did come to see me everyday and i think the hospital was good as far as the facility and i did feel safe with the staff too i stayed a week and went home for a day then went to another hospital for a few days that wasn't as nice a stay overall i would have to rate my surgeon as good i just may have regrets on my choice of surgery based on what he recommended

I had a lap band and was asking to take the liquid out for a while. The first question he said was...But did you consider removing the LapBand and a little later have you considered the VSG?! Let say i was not ready to hear that so my first impression was a little rough but at the same time brutally honest which is something I like :)rnrnAnyway, I saw him again before the lap band removal surgery and had gathered a whole list of questions, he was super patient and nice, we even laugh a couple of time.rnrnThe day of surgery, he totally light up ! and he was amazing ! You can clearly says he loves doing surgery. rnrnYou can check the first part (lap band removal) story on my profile.
