Sharp Memorial Hospital Hospital
I stayed in 7 South, it was the trama ward, not sure is all bariatric patients go there but ther should! I really have a fear of hospitals, ther are scary to me but I could imagine a more positive stay in my life! I have a renew faith in hospitals and Nurses are now my favorite people in the world! I have go back and see them when i have dropped some weight!
They gave both myself and another bariatric patient our own rooms on the trauma floor; my room was actually a double room so they brought in a recliner for us to use, which was great. The nurses were all very helpful and responded quickly to all my my requests; this was great because the main reason I called them was for pain relief. Also, they did not enforce visitor limits on me, allowing me to have 2-3 people in the room with me pretty much all day. The hallways were a little crowded because of computer equipment that they have started using; I would expect that problem will be taken care of when the construction is finished. Overall, it was really as good an experience as it could be for a hospital stay.
The night staff didn't respond to requests for assistance for 25 minutes (average), the day staff was great. Night staff also came in EVERY 15 minutes the last night I was there...totally unecessary! The one and only shower on the floor is in the supply area (area previously was a patient's room) and the shower head was broken, there is no seating, no place to put your personal care products and no privacy. You have to have an aide stand guard so no one will walk in on you. Hospital is undergoing remodel and extension and they are about 15 years late...
