Ridgeview Medical Center Hospital
My first impression was this doctor is really going to take care of me. Then as time went on I wasn't not having the same experiece that I did at first. He told me that he would be on call for me, however that was not the case. There were times when I would have changes in my body and I would want to know if I was ok. I would call him and leave messages with his office and I wouldn't hear from him for days. A couple things that I was going through was dehydration and UTI and he wasn't returning my call. I tried calling the nurse line and all they did was refer me back to my doctor. So I would say that was the part about my experience I liked the least. I would say that future patients should know that this doctor is not going to be there for you all the way like he says he will be. The after care program was shown on video and didn't give you a lot of ideas of what a \"normal\" meal looks like.
Dr. Chute seemed a bit distant in the seminar but my first office visit removed any concerns I may have had.rnrnThe office itself was a revelation. It was almost surreal to be in a doctor's office where *everything* was considerate of a large person's physical needs. I'm so used to being shamed in doctor's offices; this good experience was ...\"startling\" is the best word I can come up with.rnrnDr Chute and his staff were also very respectful of me and my needs. I was very impressed.
Dr. Jeffery Baker is a great doctor. He has a great personality and made me feel comfortable in his abilities. He explained some extra steps and precautions he takes to ensure as minimal complications as possible. I felt really safe in his expert care. Dr. Baker also cares about his patients as people. We are not just a number to him. He even went so far as to take some awesome before and after photos of my stomach for me for my scrapbook! Thank you Dr. Baker!
Dr. Baker has been fantastic! He took the time to answer every question I had before and after surgery. We went over the risks of surgery in detail (scary, but necessary). He even gives out his pager number in case you have problems after surgery.rnrnHe really emphasizes aftercare with the Unity Bariatric Center for the first year and then annual appointments with him.rnrnI would rate him 10+ for both surgical competence and bedside manner. Truly a great man.
When I first met him I just thought he was great! I just felt so comfortable with him, I knew that I was in good hands and that he would do everything possible to help my experience be a productive and positive one. My impression of him is still the same. I know that I can call upon him at any given time and he will give me the time and respect that I need to make sure all ends are tied down. for those of you looking for a surgeon, I just have to tell you, he is the greatest. when i was in the hospital, he came to my room and filled me with such positvie energy that I got out of my bed and walked the halls like I owned them. I owe so much to you Dr. Baker, you gave me the tools I needed to move on with my life and live it to its fullest, and for that...I will spend the rest of my life thanking you.
rn rnrnEdmund Chute MD, SurgeonrnDr. Chute had surgical training at the University of Minnesota and was on the Bariatric Service there in 1982. He went on to complete a fellowship in Vascular Surgery, and has been a part of this surgical group since 1990. He has been performing laparoscopic gastric bypass since 2002, and now specializes in weight loss surgery. He has a special interest in laparoscopic treatment of obesity. rnrnrnWhen I first met Dr. Chute, he was very attentive and informative with me about the surgery and the process. He explained that he was here to help me and that he supported my decision regardless of what he may have been. The staff at his facility are very friendly and they treat you as if they have known you for years. They really seem to care about their patients and they are always available to answer and questions and or concerns that I may have. My surgeon is very concerned with his patient's aftercare and long term process and they believe in going strictly by the book in order to get the best results. They want you to come to all of your follow-up appointments and stated that they will even call you and follow up if you miss an appointment. He addressed the risks of the surgery and explained the things that can be done to make the risks even less. I believe based on all the research and information that I have obtained that I am in the best hands and that I will be a success story. Surgical competence and bedside manner are both great and equally important because making this decision and going through the entire commitment and process isn't something that is taken light heartedly.rn
I am very pleased with Dr. Chute. He is very caring and is very concerned about me and my recovery. I feel that I am not just another patient to him. He makes you feel like he really cares about you, unlike some surgeons.rnrnThank you Dr. Chute for helping me begin a new healthier chapter in my life.
I can't say enough good things about Dr. Jeff. He is a very soft-spoken and understanding doctor. When you meet him he immediately puts you at ease and makes you feel comfortable. He takes time to listen, explain, and answer questions. Dr. Jeff doesn't leave you high and dry after your surgery like I've heard some surgeons do - he is very involved in his patients' aftercare. He is an excellent doctor and surgeon, and I would highly recommend him to anyone considering weight loss surgery!rn
Dr. Jeff, as we all call him, is so caring and easy to talk to. He really listens to your concerns and explains all the doctor mumble jumble in a way that easy to understand. He has a wonderful sense of humor and is so knowledgeable about bariatrics. He is a beliver in the Lap-band and is very supportive in the aftercare. He is awesome about following up on any concerns and can be reached easily, he always calls back, would never leave you hanging. If I had to rate him on a scale of 1-10 he gets a 100 from me. He is the real deal, total surgical competence with an incredible bedside manner. He'd blush if he read this though.
