First Impression...My age but he did know what he was talking about.

Impression Change?...At first I thought that he was just going through the motions but I realized in the initial consultation that he does care and it must be boring to do what he does on first visit.

Staff?...Very effiecent and friendly.

Least like?...Better looking than I am. LOL. Nothing to dislike about him at all.

Future patients...No frills, just information is presented to you and do your homework ahaed of time.

Aftercare?...Yep, he says that patients who do not loose weight or gain back are the ones who do not stay in contact with him.

Structured?...Didn't go there.

Risks?...he spelled out the risks much better than anyone else could. He gave percentages and ranked what was most dangerous and that was very good.

Overall?...A solid Nine. Darn near close to a ten, but I want to see how good his office staff is on paperwork matters.

Overall better?...Can't say for sure as of this writing

Dr. voellinger is great he i very caring and shows genuine concern , his nurses are great and even have had the surgery themselves his office staff is great and very personable though adminastration takes their sweet time filing he has you commit to a after care program as well he suggests pre op support as well as post op such as meeings and such he takes the the time to educate you and make sure you are fully aware of all risks he is very competent and has great bedside manner you will feel very comfortable around him if he ever finds a problem there is no hemmin and hawinn about it he does what it takes to correct it and does so on many occasions even if he is not on call he is there with you all the way and is the type to be there when you wake up holdin your hand so to speak to make sure you are ok I am very impressed he will not hesitate to call his mentor in mt. sinai new york to confer what is best for you also call so called experts all the way in italy to confer with them I speak of my own experience as mine was and is a delicate situation because of my situation

My first impression was that he was a hottie! He was very nice and very direct. He made sure that I was aware of the good, the bad and the ugly. He seemed to be very confident about his skills and was sure to tell me how many operations he had performed of this nature and all complications that he had ran into. The office staff is very nice....especially Nita. I have bugged her alot with my phone calls and she always calls me back. There was not anything that I did not like about Dr Melkonian. A lot of people say that he is not very personable, but I'm wanting him to be a surgeon first and foremost! I would rate him a 10 because I had a list of questions to ask him and he answered all of them but 1. 19 out of 20. I was impressed!

When I got the referral to Dr M, I googled his name to try and find out anything I could about him. That's when I found this web site. The information I found about Dr M was right on. He is a straight shooter, no sugar coating. He took all the time I needed and answered all of the questions I had. The staff has been helpful in getting my approval and I am looking forward to having this surgery without any reservations about the doctor I choose.

I did not like him at first. But
after he well informed me about how serious the surgery would be I respected him very quickly.
He turned out to be Very caring.
He makes sure you know what is going to happen and could happen before the surgery and after the surgery. He has a great staff especially Nita. I give him an overall rating from 1-10 a 10 for sure.

My first impression was that Dr. Melkonian was very thorough with looking over my information and discussing my procedure in detail.
My impression did not change at my pre-op visit he still went over everything I needed to do before my surgery date.
His office staff were very nice.
I cannot remember any dislikes.
He will not performe the surgery if you SMOKE.
He went over the after a bit. Most of my post and pre-op care information was given by the nutritionis and phyciatric Dr's.
Yes the structured aftercare is followed with a specific diet plan and follow office appt.
He had a pamphlet and other materials at the office visit were he took time to go over the risk involved in surgery.
Dr. Melkonian if nice and to the point.
Both surgical competence and bedside manner is great but I would go for surgical competence any day.

I REALLY LIKED THE WAY HE PRESENTED HIMSELF. MUCH MORE THAN I CAN SAY FOR THE LADY WHO CHECKED ME IN - NO PERSONALITY, PLAIN JANE. NITA THE NURSE WAS VERY NICE AND INFORMATIVE OF WHAT I STILL NEED. HE CAME IN THE ROOM, INTRODUCED HIM SELF, ASKED ME WHERE I WORKED, SHOOK HANDS WITH ME AND MY HUSBAND. BEGAN TELLING US ABOUT THE SURGERY, WHAT TO EXPECT AND EVERTHING, THEN ASKED US IF WE HAD ANY QUESTIONS. HE DOESNT DO THE LAP BAND. HE DID DISCUSS THE RISKS OF THE SURGERY VERY WELL. I WOULD RATE HIM JUST MEETING HIM A 7. MIGHT BE HIGHER ONCE I SEE HIM AGAIN AND THEN HAVE THE SURGERY. I ALSO, THINK SURGICAL COMPETENCE AND BED SIDE MANNER MEANS ALOT.

HAVEN'T SEEN HIM YET.
