Penrose- St. Francis Weight Loss Surgery Institute Hospital
Because of my sleep apnea, I was placed on a floor that coincidentally had been recently remodeled. I was given a beautiful, large private room. With the exception of the ICU nurses, who I found inattentive and unconcerned, the nursing staff was wonderful. I never felt ignored, in fact, quite the opposite. Their visitor policy was incredibly flexible and I had friends and associates visiting me as late as 10 pm. This hospital is currently undergoing extensive renovation. Many of the reviews would have been rated higher if that were not the case. Overall, a good experience. Warning: This is a private catholic hospital, so be prepared to be visited by someone who will be invasive regarding your personal beliefs. I had to tell this gentleman that I refused to comment several times and it took him far too long to get the hint and leave me alone.
The hospital staff was friendly and one particular nursing student helped me alot by getting me a reclining chair. It's hard to sleep in the bed all the time, so that helped. For new patients, I would ask for one right off the bat! I wish I could have been closer to home (about 1 1/2 hours away), as I ended up having to stay in the hospital by myself for three of the 6 days I was there due to my husband work constraints.
