Because of my sleep apnea, I was placed on a floor that coincidentally had been recently remodeled. I was given a beautiful, large private room. With the exception of the ICU nurses, who I found inattentive and unconcerned, the nursing staff was wonderful. I never felt ignored, in fact, quite the opposite. Their visitor policy was incredibly flexible and I had friends and associates visiting me as late as 10 pm. This hospital is currently undergoing extensive renovation. Many of the reviews would have been rated higher if that were not the case. Overall, a good experience. Warning: This is a private catholic hospital, so be prepared to be visited by someone who will be invasive regarding your personal beliefs. I had to tell this gentleman that I refused to comment several times and it took him far too long to get the hint and leave me alone.

I was very impressed with the facilities and staff at Penrose - everyone was pleasant, helpful, and understanding. I made an effort to be cheerful, happy, and to say "thank you", and it showed - they were the same back to me. And my private room on the 6th floor was wonderful - thank you, Penrose!

I would recommend this hospital to everyone having WLS in Colorado, The Dr. (Fisher) had very good bed side manners, he came and saw me every morning as scheduled, the nurses and CNA's were very helpful and kind. I cant complain everything went especially well for me there.

My stay was divided between the newly renovated 11th floor and the older 6th floor. The 11th floor is first class - just awesome. The 6th is more crowded and very hospital-like, but the care was good on both floors. The nurses and CNAs were very kind and concerned about my comfort.

The fact that the RN's were so short staffed was NOT a good thing. My profile goes into detail

The hospital staff was friendly and one particular nursing student helped me alot by getting me a reclining chair. It's hard to sleep in the bed all the time, so that helped. For new patients, I would ask for one right off the bat! I wish I could have been closer to home (about 1 1/2 hours away), as I ended up having to stay in the hospital by myself for three of the 6 days I was there due to my husband work constraints.

In general I would say aside from the fact that i had one bad experiance with a nurse. They were overcrowded and i had to stay in ICU for more than what should have been. I should have been placed in a step down unit immediately after surgery but they had no room.

My experience at Penrose was excellent. I could not have been more impressed. I would definitely have surgery there again and recommend it to family and friends.
