Penn Highlands Healthcare Hospital
He was a real cutie! lol....We didnt talk much, because the office staff helped me so much. I told him to do his part and Id do mine. :)
My first impression of Dr. Felix was that he seemed like he had a great sense of humor, would be quite, and nice. I've only had one visit with him besides the info session and he seems to the point and didn't really offer a whole lot of information. I got more information from the nutritionist and physician's assistant that visited the room on my first consultation. He basically just told me I was a good candidate for the surgery, signed a prescription for my upper GI test and told me I need a physch evaluation. The offices staff was very nice to me. The nutritionist was extremely helpful and answered all of my questions.
I love Dr. Felix. He is one of the nicest doctors that I ever had to deal with in my life. Whenever I have a problem or question, he is right there to answer them for me. He is a great doctor and one of the best in my opinion!
My first impression of Dr. Felix was he was a well spoken, well educated and sensitive doctor who cares about his patients lives. I have had 2 appointments with Dr. Felix and my opinion has not changed. His office staff is kind and courteous. They were always helpful and answered any questions I had. The thing I liked least about Dr. Felix is having to drive to the Pittsburgh area to see him. I would recommend Dr. Felix to anyone thinking about surgery. He has placed alot of emphasis on aftercare. His office has a great aftercare program. They have explained thoroughly what will be expected of me after surgery. Dr. Felix went over all the risks of surgery and addressed all my concerns about complications that could arise. I would give Dr. Felix and his staff an A+ overall. They have been so good to me and encouraged me all the way!!! Both his surgical skills and bedside manner were the tops. I was very lucky and would recommend him to anyone!!!
I first met Doctor Felix at the WLS seminar in March. He is was in Dubois, which is where he is originally from. (When I first walked in they were having a support group meeting and I thought I was in the wrong place cause I thought none of these people look like they need to have WLS, they were all post op.) Dr. Felix was very nice and explained everything in a logical manner, when he used big medical terminology he then explained what it meant so it was not over your head. I went for my first surgical consult appointment in September seven months later. I went over a lot of things with my PCP before hand and because of the seminar and the information given at the seminar, I was prepared and had been on the diet. My Surgery was scheduled in less than a month.
THe office staff was great. The office was extremely busy that day and they were really backed up and I did have to wait quite a while to see the doctor, about 90 minutes after my appointment was scheduled, but I got to talk to a lot of post op people and got a lot of valuable information from them.
When I finally saw Dr. Felix he was very patient with me, answered all my questions and got everything set up for surgery. The nutritionist even stayed late to meet with me so we could go over the aftercare program. They made it quite clear that if I were to have any questions or concerns to call them and believe me I have been calling. I would recommend anyone concidering this to see Dr. Felix, him and his staff have just been wonderful.
I was instantly comfortable with Dr Felix and his staff is very easy and helpful to work with. I only wish they were not two hours away from where I live. But they are worth the drive. They do have a support group that meets once a month but they are only a phone call away. For me competence is the most important but with Dr Felix you get both.
I met Dr. Michael Felix from Pittsburgh Bariatrics in the early part of 2004. He was giving a seminar in our area. I was impressed by what I heard. My husband and I decided to contact his office and get an appointment. I found Dr. Felix to be very informative, caring and willing to listen to me and answer my questions. He does not leave anything out and he tells you exactly how it is going to be. He does not rose color anything which I appreciate. My last surgeon was to busy to sit with me, Dr. Felix is not. I did not spend hours waiting in his office either. His office staff are very nice and his nutritionist was terrific. They have an aftercare plan that lasts as long as you the patient does. I did not get that with my last surgeon. They don't give up on you. They don't do the surgery and then send you on your way. You always have their attention and care. They are very concerned with aftercare. I really do not have anything negative to say. I didn't like paying the $395 upfront but that is for expenses for nutritionst and such. Not great but I guess reasonable over the years that I might be using her. Maybe the hours are alittle off because of coming so far I have to wait till 11:00 am to see the doctor but even that is ok. I really have no bad bad comments for this office.
My first impression of my surgeon was how good looking he was ! But seriously, I was very impressed by his knowledge and honesty about surgery. He really emphasized how risky it can be.I did not feel like he was there to line up business. He holds seminars in Dubois, Pa. once a month. They are very informative and are a good way to get your questions answered without having an appointment. He described in great detail exactly what the surgery involved and stressed the importance of committment by the patient and that it is lifelong. His staff is very friendly and quick to get your questions answered. I believe he truly enjoys helping people with this surgery. There isn't anything that I like least about him, he truly is a Good Guy !! I only wish that I had more check-ups !! I highly recommend him. I had mine laparascopically and he is very skilled at it. I think surgical competence is most important but bedside manners also mean alot. He has both! My surgery went very well and I have not had any problems whatsoever. I know this is not the norm, most people have some complications. I am just so thankful that I did so well. My experience with surgery has been great, but I caution people about the seriousness of it. It needs to be a personal choice. If I died now, (4 months post-op ) I would die a happy person. I have had a quality of life that I hadn't had for a long time. That right there makes My Choice the best decision I could have ever made !!!
well, i have had my first appt. the office is a very, very, busy place, so the wait was about a hour., but i have patience (unlike the one lady that ran out of the office swearing ..cas she was tired of waiting)lol. the dr was very pleasant, had the time to answer my questions. the office people were very nice as well. overall i give it a b
