The Bariatric Specific staff is VERY VERY good. My surgeons office is also wonderful with post op. I was in the hospital for 1 to 2 additional days after my surgery and they visited me at least 2 - 3 times per day to make sure I was doing what I was supposed to do and what the hospital was supposed to do. When the nursing staff was not doing it's job, they made them do it, which is the ONLY reason that I did not have a complete sh*t fit.

The 3rd floor was where I was sent to recover and this floor is VERY loud. My roommate and I had to make sure that our door was closed the entire time becasue we would not be able to rest if it were not. Pain meds were dispensed promptly only becasue I was able to do it myself.

Food wasn't an issue becasue I was on a clear liquid, but it was very bland. Just soup stock and crystal light (nasty kiwi strawberry), no jello, no nothing. I DID, however get all the ice and water I could drink whenever I wanted it.

The room was very clean and they changed my bedding whenever I went for a walk and when I showered. Overall, the stay was mostly pleasant. I wouldn't be frightened to return. I would just be a bit more diligent with getting what I needed, when I needed it.

Regarding: LapBand Proceedure through Ambulantory Surgery entry, surgery room staff, and 3rd Floor Surgery Department.

I have nothing but GOOD comments to give for all of the above departments.

Beginning in the Ambulatory Surgery Department. There was only one minor incident. The lights and doors were not open at 5:30 am when I arrived. Another person that had arrived before me said they had been banging on the doors but no one came. Everything was dark. I was lucky that I had asked for the direct phone number. I called and someone was sent out to unlock the doors. No apology. Get on this problem, ParkView Administrators! This was NOT a good first impression.

Once inside, paperwork went quickly and I was taken into the pre-op room. I was treated well. They asked how I was feeling. When I said I was very cold and nervous they offered to bring me extra blankets. Imagine my surprise when they laid out nice pre-warmed blankets. I was soo grateful. Once my IV was installed they asked if I was more relaxed. I said no, and they asked if I needed something to help me relax. I said yes, and it was done.

They made sure that I spoke with my anesthesiologist. And then I was off to surgery.

It was obvious to the Surgery Staff that I was nervous. So to ease that somewhat an attendant said, as she was quickly attaching me to apparatus, "The least I can do is introduce you to the crew that is ambushing you right now." It eased the tension. Then my lights went out.

Sorry, can't comment on the Recovery Room Staff. I was still out cold.

3rd Floor Surgery Department Staff was awesome! In spite of long, sometimes ungodly hours they were always there to offer help, support, kind words, and gentle care. Of course, like any other person out there that must work with people, I'm sure they appreciate not being treated badly too. Even if a patient is crabby with them they try to be understanding knowing that it's just pain or anesthesia talking. (Yes, I was eavesdropping.)

Everyone from my Nurses, Attendants that took my vitals and helped me to the restroom, lord knows how many times at all hours of the day and night, to the quiet housecleaning lady that tried not to wake me. Where ever you are, Thank you!!!

The hospital is old, although the floor was updated. It took at least 30minutes the two times I asked for pain medication during my stay. A nurse would not call the doctor to order oral pain medication the evening after surgery even though my IV pain medication had been discontinued all day due to a drop in my blood pressure. I had almost no help after day one and when I did get any, the CNA complained about being at work.

Had a great experience. Nurses very attentive to your needs without making you feel like your bothering them. Everything went really smooth.

The nursing staff were wonderful. They practically bent over backward to make sure I was confortable and taken care of. One note, If you are on CPAP, you may want to bring your own. The hospital owned cpaps were full face mask only and didnt seal well. Not their fault. They are designed for emergency use for CHF patients. Something to keep in mind though. Otherwise I give a raving review to all.
