New York Weill Cornell Medical Center Hospital
WOW! What a difference since the last time I was there. They completely renovated the surgical floor, it is state of the art. Everyone gets a private room with free TV, internet hook-up, (you don't have to bring your laptop they supply everything). They even have a futon so someone can stay overnight with you. Private bath w shower. You get a great view of the East River. The staff was very attentive and friendly. This time I brought my Rx bottles for the medicines I take daily and they ordered them and gave them to me at the designated times. I would definitely go back to this hospital for any surgeries. Visiting hours were 24/7.
This is a teaching hospital so many of the staff is inexperienced. Had to be proactive in everyway if you wanted things. Had to remind them to give me my daily meds which I took at home. Even though they ask you over and over again about which meds you take they don't give them to you unless you asked.
Weill Cornell Medical Center is the best of the best hospitals. I stayed in the Greenberg Pavillion which I would compare to a Ritz Carlton but with great riverviews. The hosptial was very modern and clean. The staff was superb. Everyone was highly competent and very nice. I couldn't ask for a better hospital and staff. If you are lucky enough to have your doctor practice there-GO!
I had a terrible experience in the recovery room. My nurse was completely incompetent. I had no pillow for 6 hours. They wouldn't let my mom come and help me stand up for the first time because it was 5 minutes before visiting hours started. I didn't get out of recovery for 6 hours because a bed wasn't ready for me yet.
However, once I was in my room things went pretty smoothly. Sometimes some of the nurses were a little unresponsive to the call button which I found irritating. Take this all with a grain of salt because I was on a lot of morphine.
