The nurses, Drs., even students were very much concerned about the patient's welfare at all times.

I received excellent care while recouperating from surgery. The nurses, and aids, were very attending to your needs. There was never any complaining, attitude, or grumpiness when I pressed the call bell for "service". Wonderful people, whom aparently enjoy their jobs caring for people in need.

The staff handled my weight and health issues extremely professional and took great care. I had sleep apnea before weight loss and the nurses were concerned with my care and kept a close eye on my progress. Thus I had no complications with surgery and recovery!

Dr Cooney and Dr Ku I am familiar with. Both excellent skills in the RNY gastric bypass surgery. They perform sometimes 4 surgeries daily. Both physicians are sensitive and respectful to all their patients.
My surgery was at a local hospital where the surgeon messed me up so bad, he was going to let me there to die. My family insisted on second opinion which is how I ended up being transferred to Hershey Med as a trauma patient. Dr Cooney performed 4 surgeries within a 2 week period to repair the damage done to me. After a month in a coma, I woke to find out that Dr Cooney saved my life. My case was a first for that hospital, and the skills where definately there to save me.

Hershey's new promo is to be a "World Class" hospital. I think that's good because right now it's more like a "Third World Class" hospital !

Other than having a freakish time with losing phone capability that never ever happened before, I believe that the nursing staff was knowledgeable and encouraging in dealing with WLS patients.

In my opinion, the nurses were not very well educated about Gastric Bypass. Several tried to give me regular sodas, sugared ice creams, etc. They actually got annoyed when I told them I could not eat these things. Several nurses asked me to explain what a Gastric Bypass was... one nurse thought it was a heart bypass. Parking was horrible - my parents had to pay to park when they came to visit me, and the parking was very far away! I understand that they have stopped charging for parking now... guess my complaining paid off! HA HA
