Milton S. Hershey Medical Center Hospital
Despite having my surgery and hospital stay scheduled for 6 weeks in advance there was no room on the bariatric floor (4th) for me when I came out of surgery. I was in recovery for hours while they looked for a bed for me. Because of this I felt out on being with others in my situation and with the proper nurses who knew about the procedure I went through.
I was eventually moved to a private room on the 5th floor. The nurses really weren't aware that I should have been out of bed and walking around. I needed to call for them when I felt it was time to move.
I also got my period 3 days after surgery and because I couldn't clean myself very well I had to rely on the nurses and not all were concerned about getting clean. I didn't even have a shower until I got home the day I was released.
I thought that going to Hershey Medical, which is 1.5 hours from where I live, would make those first few days of recovery better. After all it's supposed to be the best medical facility in PA. But I had much better care at the local hospital when I had my gall bladder out two years ago.
