He is the very best and all of his staff could not be better. I owe my health and life to all of them! I cannot thank Dr Tishler or his staff enough for the second chance they gave me.

While Dr. Tishler did not perform my RNY, he saved my life by doing an emergency revision as the result of a perforated gastric ulcer. I currently do all of my follow ups with Dr. Tishler and he has educated me more than the surgeon who did my RNY on issues relevant to the post gastric bypass patient, including taking acid medication! My RNY surgeon never mentioned my need for it and I wonder if I would have had the ulcer had I been taking Prevacid all along. Dr. Tishler has an unrivaled bedside manner, and his staff are all helpful and just as kind. I highly recommend Dr. Tishler and would trust him with my life...again!You won't find a better doctor!!

This is a small but very good hospital with excellent, attentive staff.

I've only had one appointment with Dr. Tishler in the Rocky Hill office (if you read further there's been updates). The staff was helpful and polite and I felt that Dr. Tishler spoke TO me instead of AT me like some doctors do. rnrnI got to this point off a referral from my hairdresser who lost 100 pounds in 10 months after the Lap-Band procedure, so I had pretty high expectations of him.rnrnAlso, the office staff sends you the pre-visit paperwork early enough so that you can call the specialists to get those appointments scheduled while you wait for an appointment with the surgeon. (More about that later.)rnrnAs a patient you're required to first go to an informational meeting that covers obesity, types of surgery, co-morbitities, risks, results, etc. Both Dr. Tishler and his partner, Dr. Papasavas (the drop-down on this page has his old location, he is now at Hartford Hospital in CT), were there to answer questions as well as the new full time nurse coordinator. rnrnYou're also required to go to two group meetings before your surgery and two after. The group meetings are huge, probably 150 people (?) each time, and there's a different topic each time. The first time I went it was sleep apnea, which I don't have so I was kind of bored. This past week I went to my 2nd and it was about cardiology, which was kept very general, but specific to bariatric surgery. rnrnI'll add more information to this section after my next appointment, or interaction, with Dr. Tishler or the office.rnrn11/16/08 rnI had an appointment this past Friday in the new office in Glastonbury. The office was nice and I didn't end up seeing Dr. Tishler, instead the APRN told me they were going to send my case to insurance.rnrnI didn't report after my last appointment because it didn't go well. Dr. Tishler was upset with me because I had gained 13 pounds in about 2 months and was very negative about my future as a patient. rnrnSo be aware, if you gain weight Dr. Tishler may threaten to cancel your surgery. He doesn't ask you to lose weight, like some doctors do, but he expects you to at least maintain your current weight. I ended up losing 7 pounds for my last appointment so I don't know how it would have turned out had I gained weight again.

My lap band surgery was completed on 5/21/08 by Dr. Tishler in Hartford, CT. The whole experience was smooth and without complication. While I didn't get the amazing, warm and fuzzy feeling everyone else posted about him in the past I found him to be professional and great at what he does which was more important anyways. rnrnOddly enough, the only thing hurts is my neck - I'm not sure if during surgery they had my head in a weird position but the left side of my neck has hurt since waking up in recovery. Otherwise, I feel like I've done 100 sit ups and have no restrictions! If I hadn't taken the time off of work today I would be working no problem. rnrnI would recommend his program to anyone considering this process!

I am very happy with my surgeon. He was highly recommended by many in the medical field as well as out around town. rnrnHe is very thurough and answers all of my questions with the help of his wonderful staff. He was understanding to my needs and my situation. I have to say I have been reseaching this option for many many years but that whole process with Dr. Tishler was Very Quick!!rnrnMy 1st Apt. was around Turkey day. I am currently not working so I was able to quick to all of my work up...psych apts, Nutritionists etc. My follow uo w/ Dr. T was Dec 28th. He said all was Great and submitted it to my Insurance Co. I found out Jan 8, 2006 I was APPROVED!!! I was in for my Pre-Op on the 10th Started my 10 day liquid diet on the 11th and had my Surgery on January 21. 2008. My New B-day!!! WOW that was Fast approx 2 months. :-) rnrnDr. Tishler seems to be very strict with his diet regimet etc. but that is GREAT I would much rather that then get someone who is not to sure and puts my body at risk or alows me to eats something way b/f I really should.rnrnI go back on Feb 5th for my 2week Check up!!rnrnI give Dr. Tishler a 100!!rnrn

My first impression of Dr. Tishler at his informational meeting was that this was sure to be a good Dr. - Patient fit. He is well-educated, confident, competent, real, down-to-earth and pleasant.rnrnMy impression of Dr. Tishler hasn't changed. I still find him to be everything stated above.rnrnHis office staff is kind, compassionate, understanding and professional.rnrnThere isn't anything negative that I can say about him.rnrnHe is very strong minded about weight loss surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Tishler and his staff. It is important to feel comfortable, and confident in your health care provider. rnrnHis emphasis is just as strong with pre-op as it is with post-op care.rnrnIn my opinion, he has a structured after care programrnrnEach visit with Dr. Tishler, he addresses the risks of surgery, changes that would happen in my life, etc.rnrnI have had surgeries before and find him to be a top-notch physician. He is the Director of Bariatric Surgery at Hartford Hospital. A great doctor, great staff, top hospital. Can't ask for anymore.rnrnSurgical competence is better. It is a plus to have a good bedside manner.rnrnrnrn
