Mercy Hospital (COE) Hospital
There was not much consideration for sleep. I instructed the hospital not to have religious people meet me and 2 showed up anyway. I slept once for 4 hours after putting my foot down with the nurses. The cleaning staff were inconsiderate to my sleep. The lab techs turned the lights on when they walked into the room waking everyone up unnecessarily. The surgery staff of Dr. Gluck were awesome, never had better care. The Hospital is a low rent motel with broken equipment and frustrated staff dealing with it. What the heck are they doing with their money. Do not go to Mercy if you can avoid it, it is a low rent hospital and I found it most unsanitary compared to other hospitals in Grand Rapids that I have stayed.
As with any profession there are people who truly enjoy there job and do it well. There are others that are just there to put in there time, and don't want to be bothered with patient needs. Hospitals are too noisy at night, and the nurses come in and poke and prod all night long so that getting any kind of restful sleep is impossible. There was nothing wrong with the hospital at all, except the rooms are two small, so every time my room mate gets a visit from a nurse... she has to wake me up too as she squeezes past my bed.
Very clean, i had a private room so my stay was probally a little more peaceful than those who don't. The nurses were WONDERFUL u have some that have had this surgery. I got any meds i needed pretty quick and they took good care of me. They pretty much allowed me to have visitors whenever i wanted as long as we were quiet. I was in the hospital for 8 days and they were as pleasant as they could be considering it was a hospital.
