Maine Med is good - but it is known for it's poor response for pain meds - which I found to be true.

The nurses in the post op surgical area did not have a consistent policy for pain meds. Some brought them on time, some said you had to ask, and others forgot, even after I asked. I feel this is a huge gap in their services. Also, meals, when they bothered, were poorly prepared and inedible.

Always found the nursing staff very helpful and sympathetic. At times, it was a half and hour before they would respond to your request. Overall I was very pleased.

I had good care overall. I happen to have my surgery at a very hectic and busy time, the staff were attentive despite this however you definately could feel their stress.

The Maine Med facility was very clean and nice. Dr. was awesome and so was staff. The nurses seem to have too many people to care for and it took time to get the to come to your room after ringing the bell because alarms on the IV were going off and for pain pills. They make you ask for every pain pill ...be aware ...it isn't secheduled for delivery.

In most cases, it was all very good. I only had a couple of complaints. They didn't seem to have time to bring water and a washcloth to wash up with, you had to ask. And, one nurse couldn't be found to get pain meds for myself and my roommate. We waited over 3 hours.

The nurses on R3 are the best they made life so much easyer by knowing what i would need befor i did.

My only concern I had with this hospital was the nurse I had my second and third day there. When I saw her, she was pleasant, but I had to ask several times for a shower and several times to go for a walk. I saw that nurse about four times in two days.
