Humber River Regional Hospital - Keele St. Site Hospital

amazing, the staff was so awesome, my nurses I can not say enough about, overall, I give them a one million percent grade!!!!

Although it was alot bigger than i'm used to, this hospital had the most polite and helpful staff. It was clean, and my personal overall experience was fantastic, i never really had to ask for pain meds, they were always ready, and the support from everyone on the floor, was like they totally understood my situation. I would recommend this hospital to anybody, I was very impressed by everything.

Staff was very busy, work overloaded, but still managed to do their best. Excellent day nurses! Could not have had better. Night staff was good.

My surgeon was amazing...The hospital was dirty, crowded, some of the nursing staff was unhappy, and argued about union problems during the evening and did not seem as though they wanted to be there.

The staff were all very nice and supportive, except for the nurses on the 5th floor. The emergency room nurses and support team were excellent. I was impressed overall.

If you showed you could manage on your own the nurses were hard find

The "coralling" of patients prior to surgery was degrading. The two ladies that I dealt with in the registration part on the morning of surgery were very friendly. They are overwhelmed with the amount of patients who are scheduled for surgery. (at least they were the morning that I was there).

After waking in recovery, the Orderly returned me to my room and even though the motion was causing me to heave, he continued to move quickly, bumping into walls etc. This fellow needs to get some lessons on dealing with people in a more humane manner.

I had one RN who was awesome. She was very professional and prompt. The others, for the most part, weren't much help at all. They took vitals, changed the IV bag etc. but were of no help with hygiene. I didn't even get a facecloth until day 2. One person gave me a fresh gown but no one offered to help me change it. It's a little hard to change gowns when you have an IV attached! lol Make sure to ask for supplies as soon as you can.

I found the post op pain control was lacking. They did not make it clear that I would need to ask for pain medication the night of surgery and one day post op. I ended up suffering needlessly, however, once I began to ask, the nurses were prompt in bringing it.

Overall, the staff at the hospital did what needed to be done but need to be reminded to treat patients like a person, not a number.

In general i think if the government is going to send people out of state for this surgery then i think that they should spruce it up for the people who stay hometown

Like most hospitals in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) it could use more staff. Despite this, the care I received was excellent and the staff were all very caring and attentive.

I requested to be discharged as I knew I would get better care at home than there. Was never given a basin to wash until the last day and then it was given to me empty??? I could go on and on but I won't. I will just say I will not go back to that hospital, so if I need a second stage of surgery I will have to find someone else to do it unless they work out of other hospitals.
