My first impression of Dr. Papasavas was a bit distant. He was very nice, professional, polite etc. But I did not feel immediately at ease. However my opinion did change over time. I just put it to first meetings, shyness, mine and perhaps his. But I do respect his opinion and know that he means what he says and if he asks you to do something it is because it is for your best. I've got to know him better and be much more comfortable with him over the past 8 months. He is quite friendly and seems like a fun guy. His office staff for me has always been on top of things. In my 6 months preparation for surgery during my office visits I have always been waited on in a very short time. I've had only one time after surgery that my wait was a bit long. One can't complain about that. Calls have always been returned in an appropriate time frame. The support staff is great. There is so much information and knowledge from the PA, nutritionist and they have the greatest psychologist. I have found his surgical competence and beside manner both to be great. I would recommend him to others.

The doctor and his staff are excellent! The staff is very effecient and makes the whole process very easy, including meeting the RD and the psychologist right there in the office. You see a PA every visit also the MD. By the time your surgery is here, they know you and you know them. I had a post op complication and they were there for me. They would see me several times a day in the hospital, call me at home.
Would highly recommend Dr P and his staff for western PA people looking for a md

I had my consultation with Dr. Tishler last Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006. I found him to be down to earth, compassionate, and most of all quite honest. I felt as though he really had my best interests in his heart and not just ready to say "yea you're a candidate", and just looking to perform another surgery. If he was just looking to perform a surgery, which he said he considers Bypass a real challenge and he loves these challanges, he wouldn't have asked me to consider a lap band. Dr. Tishler is rather new to our area, having come to Hartford Hospital to set up their Bariatric program in 2004. There is not much info about him on the OH site but my research showed that he was doing bariatric surgery in Alabama and was specializing in the laparoscopic procedures. He is originally from CT, having gone to local schools before medical school in Chicago, and is also currently an Assistant Professor at UCONN medical school.

His Bariatric Nurse, Nina, is a real peach to work with. She answers e-mails in a promt manner as well as phone calls. She is very professional and doesn't treat you like a number, rather like a special person. She is also very caring and supportive.

Dr. Tishler might not have a ton of surgeries under his belt like some of the other doctors in CT have, and a whole slew of testimonials from patients on the OH site, but my gut instinct told me to go with him. Besides, because he is rather new, the wait between the group session and to meet with him personally after, is a lot shorter.

I have only wonderful things to say about Dr. Tishler and Nina Arnold, his Bariatric Nurse. They have a wonderful support group and they have taken very good care of me throughout this entire process. I would reccommend the Connecticut Surgical Group to anyone.

I would higly recommend Dr. Papasavas and his staff. They were absolutely wonderful. They helped so much with insurance approval. Dr. Papasavas is a very hinest man and answered all questions and concerns that i had. He stressed the importance of the aftercare. Once again, I would recommend Dr. Papa in a minute!

This hospital was just setting up for bariatric surgery. There were a few problems but they were quickly addressed.

Dr. Pavlos Papasavas is a very intelligent, patient, and skilled surgeon. He takes the time to explain everything to you. The good and the bad, as well as all the work you need to do to be succesful. You never feel rushed, and he answers all your questions. His staff is fantastic. Beth, his PA is very helpful. The dietician, Megan, is a great reasource. They even have two independent psychologists to provide psychological services to patients. His skilled team will help you make sure all the paper work for the insurance company is correct, so that there arent any delays. His practice has monthly support group meetings you can attend prior to, and after surgery for any assistance you could need. You can call anyone at his office for help at anytime, and they will immediatly assist you. He has you come back for regular follow up appts., he even came to the hospital to see me on sunday before I was discharged, as well as Saturday. Dr. Papasavas is a world class bariatric surgeon who is in this for more than a job. He really cares about his patients. I would recomend to anyone in pgh who is considering this to please go talk to Dr. Papasavas. You will be glad that you did. My dealings with Dr. Papasavas, and his staff where outstanding, but as with anything you may have a different experience. We cant all have the same impressions of events, and these thoughts are just my personal opions. The following link can give you more info about Dr.Papasavas and his staff.

Dr. Papasavas was great took his time and I was VERY comfortable. The Staff is slow u wait along time but my work is ok with my appointments I am the 1 that gets annoyed waiting for 3-40 minutes from time of supposed appointment. Plan to be at the office awhile no an in/out office. I rate the doc a7 out of 10. He does go into detail and I would rather have LAp Band but unless I go to Mexico! I am getting roux & Y. The Doc was very thorough regrding risks of procedure.
