Hartford Hospital Hospital
First visit May 18th 2009rn9 amrnI just love the doctor! rnDr Papasavas was more than I expected. rnrnHis nurse assintant, Sthepania is very nice and sweet.rnrnBUT I don't like his office assitant, I think she didn't listen to me, or worst I feel that she underestimate me because of my english (I'm latin, and I don't speak very well).rnrnAnd the lady in front office who made the appointments in Farmington OMG SHE HAS attitude!rnrnI'm going to keep the best with me, and that's the doctor, because he's the one who is going to make my procedure no the bad girls in the office!rnrnI have to say Alba is the BEST. She help me with all my old records like Speedy Gonzalez!rnrnDoc Papasavas is the best! And also look better in person! LOL =O)rnrnToday, May 21 I went to the Glastonbury office. OMG what a diference! I went to my appointment with the Nutricionist and ask to my next Dr. appointment to Elaine the girl in the front desk. She was WONDERFUL, she's GOOD MANNER, she's educated and she bring her help with a smile not like the other in Farmington office who almost barks =O]. I'm going to come to THIS office. BIG YES to Glastonbury office!rnrnI think doctors need to know this, because the people in the office is a part very importante in this process. rnrnWhat do you think?rnrnJuly 1 st Second visit. No surgeon, just with Tammy. She check all my papers, and told me she needs to receive the reports from cardiologis and psicologist, then put all together and send to my insurance company.rnrnAHHHHHHHHHHHH! I'm SO ExiteD!rnrnAugust 10rnrnToday I went to my pre-op appointment, and let me say \"I'm in love with my doc!\". He explained everything I wanted to know, he also smiled at my silly questions! He's THE BEST!rnrnMy date is August 21st

I found the Connecticut Surgical Group through the internet and made an appoitment for a consult with the surgeon, Dr. Pavlos Papasavas. Upon getting the appointment, they arrnged for me to go to a seminar on Surgical weight lose. The seminar had the other members of the surgical group there including, Dr. Darren Tischler. They explained all the pros and cons and explained the different options. I had my first appointment and was given a check list of appointments to make, including Pysch. evaluation, dietician meetings, support groups, Cardiologist evalutions, Pulmanary eval, and sleep studies. I had my first appoitment with the doctor on 1/2/2009 and have a date of 4/16/09. I love the staff at CSG including Doctors Papasavas and Tischler. Through the whole process they have been very kind, very proffessional and very committed to patient awareness. On a scale of 1-10, they get a ten. My RN, Melissa has also been a pleasure to know and very helpful with information, appointment needs, and correspondence throughout this journey. The doctors work very hard and are always at support groups answering questions.I can't believe how much they do and how they are able to always be smiles and caring! God Bless them all!

Dr. Papasavas has been a plesure to work with so far. He has taken ample time to discuss any questions I have. The office staff is friendly and attentive so far. I'll be having much more interaction with both the Dr. and his staff as we move through pre-op and on to surgery and I'll be sure to update with that information as it happens.rnrn3/4/09 Pre-op Appointment. Everything went well and as expected. I have a surgery date scheduled for 4/7/09. I have one final pre-op physical to complete with my PCP. Not anticipating any issues there. Went over all pre-op and immediate post op instructions. Nothing out of the ordinary - standard of care for the RNY procedure. I've lost 5lbs since the last visit. Doing liquid pre-op diet for 5 days. Bowel prep will be required. Dr. confirmed that I will have a drain which will be removed before I go home. We discussed the possibilty of having to convert to open vs. lap if there were adhesions or other issues related to my hysterectomy in 2006. He was confident that shouldn't be an issue but if it was I could opt for a gastric sleeve via lap instead. I honestly hadn't even considered it so we agreed that I would do my research and let him know on surgery day if that was going to be plan b or not. I've done my research and will opt to have the RNY via open surgery if that's how it had to be done.

While Dr. Tishler did not perform my RNY, he saved my life by doing an emergency revision as the result of a perforated gastric ulcer. I currently do all of my follow ups with Dr. Tishler and he has educated me more than the surgeon who did my RNY on issues relevant to the post gastric bypass patient, including taking acid medication! My RNY surgeon never mentioned my need for it and I wonder if I would have had the ulcer had I been taking Prevacid all along. Dr. Tishler has an unrivaled bedside manner, and his staff are all helpful and just as kind. I highly recommend Dr. Tishler and would trust him with my life...again!You won't find a better doctor!!
I have had the pleasure of seeing DR. PAPASAVAS twice since December. The first time was at the introduction seminar to learn about lap band, Gastric Bypass and general information about insurance issues and HARTFORD HOSPITAL'S Bariatric program. I also heard DR. TISHLER.rnBoth doctors were extremely professional and personable. They answered our questions very directly.rnThe second time I saw DR. PAPASAVAS, was for my first one to one appointment. Once again he was professional, personable, and answered all my questions. He wasn't \"pushy\" at all. He suggested that I revisit the introduction seminar and then make my decision.rnThe staff is pleasant. They return my calls in a prompt manner.rnAnother nice thing is their organization. I was given a complete list of who I needed to see. (i.e. the nutritionists, psychiatrists, rncardiologists, GI doctors, etc.) along with each doctor's telephone numbers.rnThe list is in a format to check off each of the following:rnday of appointment rntest completed and rnan area to check off when Dr. Papasavas' staff received each result). Yes, it is up to me to make sure that they have all of the results they need.rnThus far, I am impressed.

My first impression of Dr. Papasavas was very good . He was invinting, professional, and talked to me not at me. The office astaff is also very proffesinal and prompt. The office its self is clean and bright. iI had no problems at all during my work up or the insurance approval process. Every thing went smooth. Him and his staff are really on top of things.

I am scheduled for lap-band on Nov. 19, 2008. So far I am very happy with Dr. Tishler and his staff.rnrnSurgery went very well.
I've only had one appointment with Dr. Tishler in the Rocky Hill office (if you read further there's been updates). The staff was helpful and polite and I felt that Dr. Tishler spoke TO me instead of AT me like some doctors do. rnrnI got to this point off a referral from my hairdresser who lost 100 pounds in 10 months after the Lap-Band procedure, so I had pretty high expectations of him.rnrnAlso, the office staff sends you the pre-visit paperwork early enough so that you can call the specialists to get those appointments scheduled while you wait for an appointment with the surgeon. (More about that later.)rnrnAs a patient you're required to first go to an informational meeting that covers obesity, types of surgery, co-morbitities, risks, results, etc. Both Dr. Tishler and his partner, Dr. Papasavas (the drop-down on this page has his old location, he is now at Hartford Hospital in CT), were there to answer questions as well as the new full time nurse coordinator. rnrnYou're also required to go to two group meetings before your surgery and two after. The group meetings are huge, probably 150 people (?) each time, and there's a different topic each time. The first time I went it was sleep apnea, which I don't have so I was kind of bored. This past week I went to my 2nd and it was about cardiology, which was kept very general, but specific to bariatric surgery. rnrnI'll add more information to this section after my next appointment, or interaction, with Dr. Tishler or the office.rnrn11/16/08 rnI had an appointment this past Friday in the new office in Glastonbury. The office was nice and I didn't end up seeing Dr. Tishler, instead the APRN told me they were going to send my case to insurance.rnrnI didn't report after my last appointment because it didn't go well. Dr. Tishler was upset with me because I had gained 13 pounds in about 2 months and was very negative about my future as a patient. rnrnSo be aware, if you gain weight Dr. Tishler may threaten to cancel your surgery. He doesn't ask you to lose weight, like some doctors do, but he expects you to at least maintain your current weight. I ended up losing 7 pounds for my last appointment so I don't know how it would have turned out had I gained weight again.
