Dr. Smith is a wonderful surgeon! He's thorough, knowledgable, skilled, and very kind. I think I was most impressed as I went through all my pre-op/pre-admission testing and paperwork. Everytime someone say that Dr. Smith was my surgeon, they ALL would say, \"Oh, he's SO good and very particular about his patients.\" He covered every detail, answered every question and his pre-op requirements were very important to a successful outcome.

Dr. Smith did my VSG surgery at WellStar Kennestone in Marietta, Georgia, near Atlanta, which is a Center of Excellence. I cannot recommend him more highly. Not only is he everything I was seeking in a surgeon: methodical, meticulous and skilled, but he also surrounds himself with the same in his staff and those he works with in surgery. Sue Wood, the hospital coordinator, was so amazing and had so much knowledge and experience as she has been through weight loss surgery herself. The dietician, Cheryl Forbus, was so thorough at making everyone understand the necessary dietary changes and vitamin protocol. They have so many informational sessions and support groups that it is a very all-encompassing program meant to enable us to succeed. An interesting tidbit about Dr. Smith is that his undergraduate degree was in chemical engineering and he not only uses triple row titanium staples but also clips to ensure no leaks, and then follows this with a fibrin sealant glue. I felt very safe and in good hands throughout the entire journey.

I had the DS with Dr. Smith on 8/29/06. I've dropped from 383 (369 day of surgery) to 193. I've had no significant complications. I take my ADEK and calcium and other vitamins/supplements religiously. I attend Support Group each month as well and this is a key part of his “lifetime of care” approach to this life changing surgery.rnrn Dr. Smith is an excellent surgeon (IMHO) because he was a MIT trained Chemical Engineer before he became an accomplished surgeon. Being an engineer (like myself) makes one better at just about anything that one chooses to do.rnrnMy only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner!rn

Dr Smith was great. He is a truly talented surgeon and a genuinely nice man. He was compassionate and professional. It was the first surgery I ever had that I wanst nervous even when I was beingput on the operating table. he is worth the trip for those ofyou out of the Marietta Georgia area.

Hospital staff did not wash me or change my gown- I had to have a friend come do that for me. They use a telephone system to call for nurses. I was never given a call button, so I had to look up the nurses number each time I needed something. That was hard especially in the middle of the night.
