The hospital was not prepared to meet my unique nutritional needs - kept getting the "liquid" diet trays instead of the "Boost" the doctors recommended.

I felt that overall the care was great. The nurses in ICU went above and beyond. Once I got on the regular floor there were a few nurses who were awesome. The interns were a bother, but it is a teaching hospital.

Dr. Sudan is very professional and seems very knowledgeable in his field. He is very open to all questions and is very helpful in helping you make the right decission for you. His educational class is very informative and was very helpful to me in making my decision. Charity is his surgical nurse and she is very caring, helpful and patient. They are a dynamic pair I would recommend them to anyone considering this surgery.

I have met with Dr. Sudan only once so far, for my consult. I have also attended 3 support group classes that he has been at and I am very impressed with his kind ways.

I also am very comfortable with his excellent history as a surgeon.

His patients that have had surgery all seem very pleased with him as well and that adds to my confidence level.

They are very busy, so it does take a while to hear back from them for non emergency questions. But they have always responded!

Dr. Sudan is very nice and professional I believe he is committed to the whole process and was patient will all of my questions to a point .. I mean you can tell he is busy and expects you to ask questions at the information class before your first appt..

As far as his office staff I think we are only talking about Krista his PA and Charity who does his nursing and scheduling and faxing and answeres all questions so Charity is the girl and is usally on the ball and responds pretty quick if you make it understood its important

Dr Sudans after care is intense and he is very commited he has his own support group one a month

Dr. Sudan is very knowledgeable about the types of surgeries he performs. He is the kind of doctor who tells you like it is. He doesn't beat around the bush. He requires you to attend an educational seminar before you are able to set up your first consultation with him. He goes thru the procedures he performs and when you go to your first consult, he expects you to have made the choice as to which type of surgery you want--either RNY or DS. I found it easy to make that decision due to the educational seminar I attended. When I asked if I could bring my husband, he said that would be great because we would be going thru it together. I wanted him to go not only for the support but also for the extra set of ears in case I missed something. I also took a notebook along for notes. Charity is also very knowledgeable. She is the one that you have the most contact with. When you call the office, you usually get Charity or her voice mail. Although I was skeptical about leaving a message, I did and she returned my call the same day. It was wonderful. Dr. Sudan expects you to follow certain guidelines after surgery too. He and Charity go thru this in the educational seminar so that you know exactly what to expect. I was and continue to be very pleased with Charity and Dr. Sudan. I look forward to my continued relationship with them.

Everything was fine until I got up to the floor after recovery. Very bad care on the floor. Lack of attention, communication and follow-through. It was a horrible experience and was worse than having the surgery itself.

I would recommend Durham Regional to anyone considering this surgery. The staff is well versed in this procedure and they are quite used to dealing with the morbidly obese.

Radiology was horrible. I wasn't taken for my swallow test until 2pm the day after surgery. Once I got to Raiology I had to wait for the Dr to arrive and I was quite miserable - they didn't seem to care.
