Danbury Hospital Hospital
My experience was wondeful. The hospital staff was so responsive. The room was absolutely beautiful and they gave us a private room with large beds. This floor had been remodeled two years ago and they did a wonderful job. It almost looked like a hotel room instead of a hospital. It sure makes a difference as you don't feel you are in a sterile hospital room but a comfy hotel room. They really did a great job with the hospital. The nurses were great and the care given was excellent. I have no complaints what-so-ever.
My only complaint is that some of the staff made it difficult to ask for help and some of the nurses did not want to give pain med. In the first 2 days I had to ring my call bell several times before anyone came in to help. And when you are in pain and need to be positioned it seems like forever. One nurse in particular was very apprehensive on relieving my pain and I don't understand that. Another nurse was right on top of it and pro-active on keeping a lid on it. She took an interest in me and my situation, she made a difference.
Overall, this was a pretty good experience as far as hospital stays (not my favorite thing in the world) go. I was happy to have a private room, but not so happy that it was right by the elevators and the nurses lounge. I was constantly asking for someone to close my door. There were a few really great nurses and some not-so-great nurses aides. The whole floor was what I'd call 'overworked and understaffed' so I have to give them a lot of credit. The only real complaint I have about this stay (aside from the noise) would be that the staff should not be allowed to wear perfume/cologne. There were a couple of aides and one resident in particular who about did me in with their strong scents -- not a good thing when you're coming out of anesthesia and feeling nauseous to begin with!
The staff was very attentive. There are always a couple of oddballs in a group but nothing overly annoying.
One complaint the dietary division or more precise the food preparers did not know the difference between phase1, 2, or 3 of the diet. If it wasn't for my wife I would not of had any protein supplement while at the hospital.
